Interesting film! Not much has changed from a film production standpoint: show all the wrecks to keep the audience glued to their seats, and just mention who won! Wheels that could be changed as a unit, hub and all, not just ordinary rims that could be detached from the hub, were still revolutionary idea then. An example of racing improving the automobile! --Frank

Actually, they were going to colorize it, but immediately so many "color debates" developed that they just decided to leave it alone.

Wrong again, Calvin. I was working in the pits. That guy throwing the sand looks like Tim, but I can't be sure. I guess that to you, all us old guys look the same.

Great work, Michael. How special is this build? You designed the master, built the first resin copy, and did the decals - outstanding work in all aspects of this one.

Duane: What is this "shovel" you speak of? Is it gas or electric powered? Calvin: I was there but I was in the stands...I told the guy next to me with the camera, that the crappy chemicals involved will make the Wasp TOO dark...after the fistfight, I went to hang with Craig in the pits...he was a tire changer on an "also-ran" but got Very Tired after 30+ tires...then we got in a shouting match about which shade of grey the tires were..IIRC, there were fifty shades...I left the pits and ran into a lady with a newborn...she said his name was Gary, but all the kid could manage to say was "momma" and "decals"...very strange...there was an older guy there who kept calling everybody "whippersnappers" and I think his name was either Duane or Paul(?)...the shovel guy looks young enough to be Sandy or Jerry...I remember Jerry saying "it may take awhile to find the right woman"... Overall, it was a fun first Indy...I remember saying "what moron thinks a 500 mile race will catch on." Tim
Oh yeah...this car is AWESOME! The money is burning a hole in my pocket...TJ
