Can't wait to get this!!! I got to see it at the IMS show on Saturday. My son, Chris, who is an architect, and Michael had an interesting discussion about 3D printers. This is in another world. Here I sit with cardboard and wood. Good on you, Michael. For the 100th. We should all be there. Jim

I got a look at this at the show, too, and guys, it is gorgeous. The engine is phenomenal. Who would have ever thought we could have a Wasp with an engine! Truly one of a kind. I tried to give Michael my money on the spot and he wouldn't take it.

As part of the development process I am printing two of everything - one for master creation and the second that is being assembled as a full 3d printed model.... with styrene and aluminum tubing where needed. Not that the aluminum tube going through the gearbox is NOT the axle it is a secondary support that was on the real car.

That looks rad! My immediate thought is to 1:18 print the body and make the replicarz model accurate

So, are you going to follow this up with the Mulford Lozier so that we can be sure to build the 1911 winner? Controversy is nothing new at Indy.

A great choice and a wonderful looking kit, but I'll wait until I see the price before committing to getting one.

i've been hoping to see a model of this car for years and now this… this is more than you could hope for. duane Several years ago, I suggested that this car would be a good subject for a resin caster. This idea was met with a combination of derision, condescention and indifference. About two years ago I asserted that 3D printing would soon become the preferred manufacturing method for models of all sorts and that this would inevitably lead to more variety and affordability. I got a lot of pushback on this, mostly to the effect that the process is too expensive, too time consuming, too crude, etc. So, now we are about to have a 3D Wasp. Call me Cassandra. I will certainly attempt to purchase one of these as I have been waiting a long time for it. pbh

No matter what your favorite era is, this is going to be a must for any Indy model fan. Absolutely! I risk being shot for saying this, but pre-1960ish cars aren't usually my thing. But this is The One that started it all. Looking amazing Mike. I think this 3D thing may just catch on... MJ

Jordan So far only FUD - FXD wasn't an option when I printed the engine, and I didn't feel it was necessary for the body. I will probably use FXD for the wheels as they have some pretty intricate detail that will be hard to clean up for casting as well as some of the other finer parts that I still have to design (we are already molding some parts and I'm not even finished drawing this thing up yet, LOL).

I was at the hobby shop today so I did some looking into paint color. Could not find anything in a can that is correct. Tamiya Camel yellow is the 'closest' but not quite right. I found bottles of Mr Color by Mr. Hobby (Gunze) - 109 Character Yellow (which is actually more like McLaren orange) and 329 Yellow, which when mixed together in equal amounts gives you Wasp yellow. Both colors are 'close' - one being bit too yellow, the other a bit too orange. If you don't want to mix colors I'd go with the 329. These paints are solvent/lacquer based.

Oh Geez, this means I'll have to take a chance with the air brush. Or go with Camel yellow, I don't know of anyone that will see my build that was at the race in 1911.
