Michael, This is a long over due model and I'm glad you're leading the way with the 3D project. I am certainly proud to be part of this group! Patrick

This is REALLY looking Good Michael!!! I have the Replicarz 1/18 car and it's pretty darn cool. The body pins are fragile on it also. Two of them were broke when it arrived. I super glued them back in place and it's good to go. I'm going to get one from you so I can build this puppy. Got to have the one that won the first 500....

Yeah, those pins on the Replicarz are crazy. The 3d ones I did are a bit thicker - 0.4mm vs 0.3mm. and I beefed them up a bit more, I think they are no .48mm.

Frame, seat and engine all painted. These are the resin parts. The spark plug wires will be 'optional-supply your own' but the distributor has dimples for drilling holes for the wire. The cylinders and heads were hand painted (mix of TS81 Royal Light Gray and TS 41 Coral Blue) as hand painted gave it a more realistic look as the engine isn't exactly a work of precision engineering or painting by today's standards. The copper parts are painted with Krylon Foil Metallic Copper right over the 3d print. The two copper painted parts as well as the valve springs will be supplied as 3d printed parts - originally was going to go with white metal, but I felt some of the parts will be too extreme even for white metal production. Clean-up wise I'd say the 3d material is about the same to clean as white metal. The exhaust pipes are aluminum tubing which will be supplied with the kit.

How does the air/fuel mixture get into cylinders 1 and 6?

How does the air/fuel mixture get into cylinders 1 and 6? Good question... maybe that's why it only went 75mph... it was running on only 4 cylinders

I can't imagine anyone letting cost be an issue for a kit this important and so beautifully done, but do you have an idea on the cost yet?

I can't imagine anyone letting cost be an issue for a kit this important and so beautifully done, but do you have an idea on the cost yet? John Given the cost of other 3d printed items, I can see cost may be a problem for some. However, if that ends up being a problem, perhaps Michael can offer the kit in sections. That's what some folks do in the space modeling world. There is a 3d printed 1/32 kit of the LM that you can buy in sections to spread the cost over time. (total cost of the kit is in the $800 range so far)

That is why most/all of the parts are getting cast in resin, to keep the cost of the kits down.

I have not set a price - I have a 'target range' that I'm hoping to hit. But I wouldn't expect it to be the prices you are used to for resin Indy car kits - no way I can do that and make it worth my while and cover all expenses. But I don't expect Model Factory Hiro pricing either and definitely not in the 1/32 lunar module kit range referenced above

Given what I've seen and knowing how Michael does business it will be well worth the price. I also want all involved to receive a fair return for their efforts. A big thank you to everybody involved for bringing this into reality.

Got my first 'official' shipment of the 3d parts I will be including with the kit. Top: Valve springs, middle: engine hood handles and body fasteners (a few extras included as they are REALLY delicate). Bottom: Distributor and carburetor.

How difficult will it be to open the 3D parts (distributor, in particular) to secure the spark plug wires? I understand the 3D parts are very brittle, or is the "slot" for the wires deep enough to hold those wires without further carving? --Frank
