Nobody seems do be doing this car, so I will climb into my WABACK machine and make a feeble attempt to turn this into this Don't expect one of Calvin or Redlegs speed builds. You all know my deal, Old, Slow, and Lazy. Take Care Craig

I've been anxiously waiting for someone to do a WIP. I have the kit, but need someone to follow who knows where all the pieces go. I am slow also so it should work out. Thanks for doing this!

Sandy, the car will be finished by the weekend, I just don't know which weekend. Duane, I have a color picked out, don't know if it is right or wrong. Seems like every photo I have seen shows a different color. I need to give Calvin something to do. I intend to do a step by step on this car, as the instructions are, to say the least, basic. Plus I need to learn how to use my new camera. The car in the photos is IMO way over restored, mine will be more as raced. I doubt the real car had that much chrome. Take Care Craig

This is great. One of the things that puts me off about doing more of Gary's cars is lack of color reference. This car is obviously beautiful and Craig will do it justice. And I really like the fact he's doing an as raced version. And he builds at my pace!! Thanks for doing this, I'm looking forward to it.

Great photos, John, they will be a big help. The black car is more what I have in mind, as far as the restoration. The car I posted even has the springs, and bolts chromed, which I doubt is accurate. The Miller 91 cars were some of the most beautiful things ever built IMO, and they don't need any extra bling. I consider myself an average builder, at best, some of you guys could pull the "show car" off, I can't. I have a very spotty relationship with Alclad. I don't have the patience, of talent to paint and then assemble some of those tiny parts. I build race cars, not show cars. I do this for fun, when it's not fun, I walk away for a while. I welcome any comments and suggestions, sometimes I change my plan because of them, sometimes not. Take Care Craig

I'm about halfway throuogh my build of the car. The kit is very well done. I'm using Tamiya Lavender for the violet color and Testors Dark Yellow for the wheels and frame. I'm decanting the Lavender color from the spray can so I can airbrush it.

Great colour choices. I've pegged TS37 Lavender for mine with TS16 Yellow trim. I suspect the restored car is brighter than the original but it just looks so good.

I'll post them when it's finished. Right now the only major piece that's done is the engine.

I have made a start on the car The colors are TS16 yellow and Krylon "rich plum" (let the debate begin". I had no confidence in my ability to get the proper effect on the grill shell with Alclad, so I went with BMF. The photos I posted are, I believe the Smithsonian car, so I painted the spring hangers the frame color. You have 2 hoods to pick from, the one I chose has 3 rows of louvers, whike my photos show only 2. So I had to sand the top row off This kit has lots, and lots of tiny parts, so be very careful with handling them, if you lose some of them, you are screwed. The detail, and quality of the castings are amazing, the best I have ever worked with, thats the good news. The bad news is that the instructions are disapointing, to say the least. Add to that, if you call Harold with a question, you get a message that the voicemail box is full and to hang up. Plus the fact his email address is no longer valid. The link that John posted will answer many questions, those photos are a lifesaver on this build, THANK YOU,JOHN. Take Care Craig

Go to the thread Tom Faletti posted "Historic Racing Minatures Miller 91 FWD" John. It has the details and contact info. I hope you have better luck contacting Harold than I have had lately, I hope everything is OK with him.

These are looking great. I called Harold and ordered one as well even tho I am still in the middle of an Autokit of this car. I like the twisted wires on the engine. Here are some more refs. Kevin

A little more progress. You must install the front brake drums before you glue the transaxle to the frame. The springs will snap into the front axle (I cleaned out the holes first with a drill). Align everything carefully before you glue the springs to the mounts, a mistake here will spoil your day. The directions say to leave .245 inch exposed when you glue the alum tube into the transaxle, WTF? I marked them at 1/4 in (.250). The grill shell and radiator are finished. I have 3 airbrushes and don't use them much at all. To me they are a pain in the butt. That is one of the things I dislike about Alclad. The other is that I seldom get the results I want from it. I picked up a can of this stuff at Hobby Lobby, I'm quite pleased with the results, plus no prime coat, black coat, Alclad coat, and clear coat. Just spray the part. The dash and steering wheel are done. The kit includes cast gages, but I just did the Sharpie thing, and glued some gage faces on the back of the panel. A drop of epoxy for the lens. Take Care Craig
