MORE PROGRESS, I put the body aside this weekend and got going on the Offy, I intended the focal point of this build to be the engine, so I will tell you whats up, first i cleaned up the Cam covers and drilled for the 10 bolts per cover painted semi gloss black and added the bolts, on to the block again more clean up and 1 coat of Mica Silver followed by 3 coasts of Light Gunmetal drilled and installed the 6 Allen head cap bolts on the front cover added the side cover and installed 4 bolts and washers...I cut the intake and plenum apart drilled for the throttle shaft, fuel injectors, and a hole for the line to the pop off valve. Also 5 Allen cap head bolts on the base of intake to hold it to the block. installed the throttle shaft.. back to the block I added R&D unique Spark plugs and made boots with Heat shrink tubing, find a similar size metal tubing and slowly shrink the tubing over a flame until just right, next up the intake tubing and clamps like I mentioned in Foyt 77 wip thread... here are the clamps, ( I got a assortment of sizes and colors of shrink tubing at www.allelectronics.com for about $10) shunken tubing and parts more tomorrow.... Chris, I'm looking for some hose clamps and the ones you used in your great build look perfect for my purposes. Most all I've found (Detail Master and Model Car Garage) look more like zip ties. Can you tell me what brand they are? Paul Erlendson

I actually ended up buying 8 different sets of Hose Clamps for this project so I am glad you asked.. I ended up using the Crazy Modeler # EP-0106 General Use Intensive Hoop and Clamp set, as pictured, I used the little clamps, roll with a piece of rod to get them round, bend the tabs up and insert screw!!, now I have so many I dont think I will be buying any more soon!!and Yes so many are wire tires (Zip Ties) and they call them Hose clamps... I got em from Stradasports. Chris

Afternoon Fellows, This was an outstanding thread on the Lotus 56b/Gephardt(Gerhardt)(?) - Plymouth/Offy. !969 seems the peak of Indy's Greatest Decade of Innovation. I'm going to call my Crown Bookstore friend and reclaim my three 1960'2 era Indy books I gave him to sell when I fled California. I'm sure between the three I will find more info, they were great books. Looks like my Library (as my Collection) is EXPANDING Again! Oh Well, Its only Money. Thanx for listening, I really enjoy in depth research, thank God for photographs, you guys are the Best.

Thanks Guys It still occupies a spot of distinction in my Display case, and the Dan Gurney, AAR "Best Indy Car Model" from the 2011 So Cal NNL, I keep above my desk to remind me how much I enjoyed building this and many other models.. Chris

A BIG "Thank YOU" to everyone on the forum and all over the Globe for checking out this build! I looked today and it has had 30,041 Yup that's 30,041 Views!!! I had a good time building this car, making the WIP and it was entered in 1 contest where it won the Dan Gurney supplied "AAR Best Indy Car Award" so I figured that was good enough and never entered it competitively again. Thanks Guys for Your kind words and encouragement during and since I built it.... Chris
