Yesterday I got the biggest, heaviest resin kit EVER! I bought it from the hydro museum that Craftmasters just came out with. The latest in 1/25 scale, which for an unlimited hydroplane, that's BIG! This kit weighs 2 lbs! LOL Its one of my favorite Thunderboats - the 1962-65 Miss Bardahl "Green Dragon" Im going to build the 1965 version which had a metallic green (the version it is currently) It was one of the most successful boat in its era. Driven by Ron Musson, it won 3 consecutive National championships and gold cups. I always enjoy getting up close and personal with the Green Dragon.

That is one hunk o' resin. Didn't know Craftmasters was still in business. Their web site went away a few years ago. I see the kits are still for sale on eBay, too. Might have to get myself a Miss Bardahl (but probably in 1/48th scale). Here's a link to my Hawaii Kai III that I built a few years back: Hawaii Kai III

Thats really impressive. Soooo.. You'll have it done by the 31st? This year? Im getting too old and broken down to be doing finish dates anymore! Back in the olden days I could, but not anymore. BTW, where did you get 5 whole dollars young man? Its my allowance for the week! I'll be able to go down to the 7-Eleven and buy myself a pop and chips and see my girlfriend behind the dirty countertop.

I did a little bit to my 1/25 Miss Bardahl today. Oven cleaned it, built up the Rolls-Royce Merlin, glued in the "engine pan", cockpit, and cowling....also did some filling. I think this build will be pretty special....because the last 1/25 scale Unlimited I did, the 1978 Miss Budweiser, its got so much attention by visitors, its a model builders dream come true when "non-model builders" take note of a particular build.

The 60's thru the early 80's were by far the most lethal time in the sport. Especially in 1966 when the sport lost 4 top drivers in two races.

Man...it sure looked good to see the Pak in the water! Just last year I was standing on the step ladder next to the upside down Hull. Sure miss that "THUNDER". That sound is even BIGGER and better with 5-6 boats in the water heading to the green flag and turn 1. It's still AWESOME to watch today. Good Video and PICS Calvin...
