If you dont know already, I've been working away on a possible 1982 Wildcat "kit" yes Kit! as in Resin KIT. But no official announcement as of now. I need to figure things out before I go off and say that Im going to put this in production. The only thing I ask for is to give me motivation! ;D These scratch builds can really stomp on a persons motivation.

Good luck with this, if you can pull it off it'll be a huge success. I know another person is supposedly working on one of these but my faith in that person is all but gone.

Dumb question, but is it going to be in 1/18 scale? Jeff

BTW the car is really taking shape since the last picture I took. Im starting to see light at the end of the tunnel. Once I get primer on this cat I think everyone else will feel the same.....I hope

Man....its amazing all the things I see that are "wrong" after taking a picture. (Shape wise)
Remember Im not worried about little scratches or pin holes at this point. Im 100% focused on the shape.

Pictures are a great tool for finding symetry and finish issues the naked eye can't. Still looks good to me.

Hi Calvin, Something has been bothering me for a while with the tub of the car and I think I'm homing in on it. 1) The upper A-arms do not spread very wide and so the fairing around them doesn't appear to extend so far forward as you have portrayed: 2) Does the windscreen perhaps extend too far forward? 3) Should the nose tip be narrower? I think this is bothering me the most, because that was a defining feature for the look of the car. Let me add that this is already much better and more accurate than I could hope to achieve if I tried to scratch build one of these. Excellent work so far!

1) The upper A-arms do not spread very wide and so the fairing around them doesn't appear to extend so far forward as you have portrayed: First off I want to say thanks for your opinion, I really need them. OK.....for the upper A-arms, I think I do agree with you. I really think your right on that. Im wondering the same right now. I think so too but just by a little? I dont know....for how you gave me such a good review I think you have the eye for it. Thanks! I'll look into it.......harder

I may have an artistic eye but when it comes to creating with my hands what I see in my head, the image does not tend to translate so well. ;D
Now creating decals on a PC screen is another matter though. That I can handle...

The pics help out a lot Michael! Thanks
I think I just need to get some grey primer on the car to see it better, having all the different colors on the nose can really make me go cross eyed. Plus give it a nice clean look.

Calvin, I really appreciate all the hard work you're putting in on this. I think a lot of us on the forum are very excited about this project. Thanks for your efforts and sharing the progress.

Calvin, I would hope with your handle that you have one of Bill J's 2k models. I think that this comparison might help you with your proportions. I know this is an 1981 Wildcat, but they are very close. Paul Erlendson Attachments:

Grey primer always helps me tell where I am really at when my sanding makes the model look like a nice sedimentary display ;D

Wildcat MKIIIB Wheelbase 108in. ;Front track 64in.; Rear track 62in.; Chassis width 54in. (sidepods included) ; Chassis height 36in. (at fuel tank). 1/25th scale conversions; Wheelbase 4in 5/16ths Front track 2in. 9/16ths Rear track 2in. 1/2 in. Chassis width 2in 3/16ths Chassis height 1in 7/16ths If I do not have scale drawings but do have a good side shot and the wheelbase measurement, I take this to kinko's and enlarge or reduce the photo to the scale wheelbase, in this case 4in. 5/16ths, this is the next best thing to having an accurate mechanical drawing. As Michael mentioned , beware of distortion in photos taken with wide angle lens. For the record the Chaparral had a 106in. wheelbase. Hope this can be of some help. Lance

I don't know if this will help or confuse. The pictures below are of Bill Jorgensens version. These pictures are at least 3 years old and I know it's gone through some changes since then. I just thought I would post these just in case they helped you in anyway. I don't think the side pod openings on Bill's were wide enough. They may be now but I have not seen it in a couple of years.

Calvin: KEEP AT IT! It is looking good and I'm impressed with your attitude. Most human beings don't take criticism well but you are not a "diva." I firmly believe that this project will turn out fine. Also, put me down as a buyer; I've wanted this one for years. I've read that Mears (my wife's favorite driver) still watches this race, hoping that somehow he'll beat Gordy to the line... Good luck to "THE MACHINE" Tim
