Calvin: KEEP AT IT! It is looking good and I'm impressed with your attitude. Most human beings don't take criticism well but you are not a "diva." I firmly believe that this project will turn out fine. Also, put me down as a buyer; I've wanted this one for years. I've read that Mears (my wife's favorite driver) still watches this race, hoping that somehow he'll beat Gordy to the line... Good luck to "THE MACHINE" Tim Thank you! I think its easier to accept criticism than to have a crappy model.

Ok, I'm sold. I'll take one just the way it is right now. (copy of course).
I was thinking maybe you should do a top, front, & right side view photo with dimensions & maybe Mike may want to start on a decal set cause we'll all need those too.
Just an idea.

Ok, I'm sold. I'll take one just the way it is right now. (copy of course). If you like it now Wait tel' I get it improved some more and in full kit form. Thank you for your support! I think we already have a pretty good plan.....we've been talking it over. No worries there. Also I just want to make it clear that if and when I get this done its going to have Indycals, you can count on that.

Also it would be nice to know what the "Nose Fin" / A-arm cover - the hight of it. On mine I have one taller than the other so that needs to be done also...

This might help - this was my first attempt at a Wildcat that I did back in 1982 (obviously a couple parts are missing). I think my sidepods were too wide too. At one point I even had the ground hugging lower rear wing they ran at some of the races that year.

At one point I even had the ground hugging lower rear wing they ran at some of the races that year. a "Bi-Wing" is what the actually called it See I've been doing my research They ran it on the short tracks and the Road courses.

Calvin, one thing my eye caught from the IMS photos the bottom of the nose looked to be angled in slightly.
Micheal, I have a similar setup for a Yellow 80s Indy Winner, not as accurate as yours but it was done with Technic blocks so it sacrifices accuracy for steering ability. ;D

This is going great! I really applause your acceptance of input and trying to make this a great little kit. I want to get one as well for the #40 Andretti version. Nic

I think Indy is getting at the taper in the nose as it gets closer to the ground. Perhaps the pic below illustrates it. Trevor Hosted on Fotki

Wow! Your 100% Right IMO......I never caught on to that! I knew something was going on with that bottom section but just couldn't pin point it......I thinks its because I have so many other things wrong that it just gets a little hard to pin point stuff.
Hey! Thank you! for shinning a light on that!
I can fix that (Im starting feel better already) ;D

Oh my! ;D I know its going to be a little hard to tell whats going on intel I get some blue on it. If you can see it OK, what do you think of the nose taper? I also narrowed up the cockpit sides Plus lowered the A-arm fins. I also think I need to take the time to take the inside hight down of the radiator inlets. Because Im narrowing up the side pods the radiator openings will need to be more symmetrical (?) to the width of the pods.

Looks like it's coming together great. Not to get too far ahead, but looking at the profile, it almost looks like a copy could also be turned into an 83 March for Sneva's car & maybe even Mears's 84 winner. It would at least make for a great start.
I guess that means I'll need 3 of them.
Also, how much of a kit do you plan to do? If I know most of us, we have the parts to do most of the rest ourselves. By just making the body & offering it, this might take off some stress of trying to create a full kit along with keeping cost & pricing down. With most of Bill's kits we had to utilize our parts boxes anyway.
Just thought it might be an idea if you start getting burned out with this.
Keep up the great work no matter what you decide.
Mike

I haven't really look to hard but you never know? Im plaining on a complete kit: Wheels Tires Somewhat of a curbside engine Trans axle Suspension Wings windscreen seat steering wheel Im not to sure about the rear wing supports I might just add in a template so that it can be used to cut out your own brass or plastic. also the roll bars Im not to sure what I'll do. I image its easy enough to do on your own? But all of this is just talk nothing official Im not a big fan of donor kits, just because.
