Nice! I've got a Tamiya 1/12 Ferrari 312T4 in the stash. I'm beginning to think with my age and RA issues, this may be the only scale I can build. I'll need a bigger house. :-)
This car reminds me of that day back in '77. The race was tape-delayed back in those days and my buddy and I would avoid all radio and news shows so we could watch it and not know the winner. But I was watching TV (ABC) and a promo ad came on from the local station saying "Watch AJ Foyt win his fourth Indy 500 this evening on channel..." I was so effing PO'd I think I even called the station.

Man...I hear you on the PO'd thing MJ. That happened to me a few times in the past. They(the station) started warning folks ahead of time there for awhile. Probably because of people calling in and cussing them out!!

Maybe that's why the ratings were down from 1976 (1976 had the highest TV ratings ever for the 500).

Calvin, $250 is not too much for a 1/12 MM kit. MFH kits are $500 - $800 depending on the level of detail. I think I paid $635 for my 1/12 TG1, and that is full detail.

Calvin and Michael.
Learning all the time here. Finding the whole thing fascinating.
Will the decals include the number 84 on them?
Not your subject of historical importance,
but someone just might......
Unless I have looked at the wrong version. I am a rookie after all.

I was prepared to be terribly disappointed by Lloyd Ruby's Lotus Climax from Trenton in 1963, but this is great news news. Count me in. And thanks.

Commendable idea! Awesome challenge. I think the expectations for accuracy will be much higher in 1/12 scale, especially the mechanicals as 1/12 lends itself itself to much higher detail.

This is an incredible project and one that will be quite popular (always hard to go against a Foyt winner)! You’ve done some impressive work so far.

Will the decals include the number 84 on them? No, we have no plans of making an 84

I crunched the numbers and that's the fairest price I could do. Its going to be mostly resin. I dont have to worry about white metal on this one. The model will be pretty heavy but I think it will be strong.

I've had some interesting ideas thrown at me with this engine....and I was wondering if there would be any interest, if I sold the engine separately as an "Engine kit" Im going to be adding more detail to my engine and was wondering if there would be interest in people buying the engine as a kit? It could really easily be detailed up and in 1/12 scale it would be a pretty cool but not a big space hog.
