It's amazing! I give a clue and everyone goes further away in guessing. LOL You guys are thinking too hard!
Nothing I'm saying is a lie, I'm just telling what I've been doing.

Calvin One other thing. Are you trying to start for a new record on a thread. Ralph No, I'll never ever be able to beat the 1982 STP Wildcat Thread

A similar unique indycar model has been done by one of our expert builders on this forum more than 10 years ago....the car he did actually raced in the same year as the car I'm currently building...

You all need to get back to building models and not waste your time guessing on this thread.... it's already clear to me that no one will ever guess it....so with that said....just give up. LOL

and I have NOT misled anyone on saying, I built the engine and tires from scratch because there was NOT any plastic production engine or tires ever build to fulfil my needs for this car.

when that cover comes off, everyone will go: OMG! That's why he had to build the engine and tires from scratch!!!!!

there are questions that I'm absolutely amazed that no one has asked....
if I did this thread on the F1 forum with F1 builders asking the questions, I bet someone would have figured it out by now...

ok how about...AWD chassis, 10" wheels instead of the normal 12" wheels, only ran one part of the 1969 season having a unique turbo offy layout (because no other engine would fit the chassis) - the Lola T152

Hirosan gives us a photo of a small part of the car to work off. Maybe you could give us a small visual aid as a clue.

Im glad it's taking everyone a long time to guess it because it gives me plenty of time to get this kit finished.

ok, one more guess - (although I'm not sure why you would have to scratch build an engine for this unless the body work comes off)

I will say one thing, this entire thread has reminded me how completely interesting the month of May used to be. The whole month teams tried out their cars, some were very unique and interesting, although some were interesting but duds. Lots of attempts at innovation. To me it was much better than the cookie cutter, all nearly identical low flying aircraft we get today.

I think the key to this is the engine has not been done in a model kit previously. So no Offenhauser, Ford, turbine or Weslake. I'm no expert historian on the 500, but I think some here can whittle it down from there.

So obivious, it's either that twin engine Porsche thing or the truck that a guy used to be first in line to get into the track for like 40 years.
So now, how much wampum do I send in?
