Awesome Mike. Every detail was well thought out and the paint/decal combo is top notch. I really like the wheel covers. I do have one question that Jordan will probably have the answer for: What was the point of Sullivan having the cover on the fuel filler if it was just going to be taken off? I don't know, but the way he took off like a bat out of hell, it sure didn't hurt!

Two things. First, there was a slight perceived aero advantage by putting it on. The downside is that USAC required the teams who tried it to race it. That made for a longer first pit stop. That idea quickly went away which is why others did not do it.

I haven't looked at this grouping before but your work is excellent and a help to me to see how you execute the work. I like how you solved the front suspension problem and believe the it was the most difficult part, but the results are great.
Since I'm not an Indy kit expert can someone tell me what are the chassis type designations for the AMT Lola, March, and Penske cars and the Monogram Lola et all cars? I get lost.

It's been awhile but to follow up, I asked Danny's crew chief about it... he said that USAC did make them start the race with it but that it had blown off by the first pitstop.

Patrick Patrick, 1:25 scale AMT Penske PC-6 AMT Penske PC-17 AMT Lola T8800 - Chevy config (Kmart.) AMT Lola T8800 - Cosworth config (Provimi,Amway) *AMT Lola T8800 - Cosworth config (Havoline,Amway... modified parts) AMT March 88C - Cosworth config AMT March 86C - Chevy * - Havoline box says it is an T8900 but its a modified T8800 kit, Box art and decals are for the 1990 car. Amway kit usually contains the same pieces that are in the Provimi kit (except they are white plastic). Sometimes the Amway box will contain the same pieces from that are in the Havoline kit. 1:24 scale Monogram Lola T8800 Monogram March 88C I have some of the Monogram kits, but I prefer the AMT kits. Hi Russ,
I am "dumb and dumber" when it comes to this era of Indy cars, but I have a bunch and like to build them. So, what is the difference in the *Modified T8800* kit and what would be a T8900? I know the parts are different in the Havoline kit, but don't know the differences in the real cars.

Mongo Mongo, Off the top of my head, one of the major differences is the shape of the windscreen on the 88 vs 89. The 89 windscreen is larger and extends farther down the front of the cockpit area. I'll have to look at the differences a bit closer tonight when I get home. Having said that, IMHO, the differences between the 87-89 Lola are relatively minor (in comparison to something like a PC17 vs PC18). The Lola chassis didn't make a real noticable change until the 1990 season. RussD

Thanks, Russ. I have the two kits, but wasn't aware of the full size differences.

Michael,
I'm currently building Rick Mear's 88 car. Is there anyway you could re post the pictures of the front row cars? They don't seem to show up any more.
Thanks
