Having just bought a lot of decals with several for this series, I'm looking forward to seeing these.

You can see here that work has just started. After removing the molded sidepod covers (UGH!!) and drilling the pickup points we also needed to cut the fuel cell bulkhead dow to match the contours of the tub. So far....not an easy task. Decals are provided by Michael Portaro and Indy

The horrible sloid "popoff valve" that was provided with the kit absolutely had to go. here , I am fabricating my own. It isn't quite finished but the end result is infinitely better than a chunk of chromed over plastic.

This was turned by hand from an alluminum tube. It will become the compressor side inlet for the turbo.

In this shot I am working on the plenum to turbo connector. These parts are all hand made and turned from aluminum. The plenum on this kit requires a ton of add on and some shaping at the rear to conform to specs from the period.

You can see that some work needs to be done to adapt the fitting at the rear of the plenum.

Doing some fitting and getting rid of the damn seam in the tub. This is the first application of the putty to close it up. You can also see how the front wings are now pinned and all of the horrible plastic is gone.

After the second go round with the putty, the seam is gone. the nose pin is visable and being copper, it was easy to sand as well.

Making quick work of the sidepod openings. Cutting out all of the plastic filler and replacing it with period screnns for the openings. These will probably be changed but here now for the visual.

Just showing what the discarded suspension looks like next to the tub. Everyting from the pickup points out will be hand made. Save for the rubber.

The first and third set of wheels seen here will be used on the model. Save for one model i have seen over the years I have never seen open fronts and wheel covers on the back. The black tri hole will be used for another project later on in the year.

Great scratch building!! Those turned parts are sharp and a very nice addition to the kit. Impressive work so far.

I tried my first AMT last year, nothing fit so I threw all of it in the can. I have a couple more but I'll never build them.

You're a real craftsman. Love to see someone make a masterpiece from a bad reproduction. Looking good.

I believe, with your obvious talents, you should be designing and producing kits, not trying to make chicken salad out of chicken feathers. BEAUTIFUL work!

You're right, I stand corrected. Worst fit you could imagine.

I tend to like the AMT kits. I built this one a few years ago and was pretty happy with it, but you're doing some things on this one I wish I had done. Maybe on the next one... Nice work, keep it going!
