This is the basic idea after I get the rest of it done. Very labour intensive building here.

This is amazing! BTW, I love the AMT Lolas... it's the Monogram's that are unloved (at least by me)

For a second I thought I was on F1M. (That's a complement BTW)

Agreed Calvin - this is taking the AMT Lola to new heights. I can't wait to see how it comes out.

Excellent detailing and re-engineering job. Love it! What version, I mean livery, will it be? Oj, BTW: Trash the AMT Indy kits. Trash the Monogram Indy kits. Guys, any kit is just that: a kit. It represents the investment of a manufacturer of thousands of dollars in engineering and tooling costs and the compromises such expenses mandate! I can't remember ever building a kit from the major manufacturers that didn't require some re-engineering, correction, or some scratch building. A kit is just that: a kit. It's just the beginning. The end is up to you, the builder. The better the modeler, the better the model. I've build dozens of conversions using those "trash" AMT and Monogram kits, and I, for one, was grateful to have them. Yes, some were dismal. Some were very much compromised. Few could be called treasures, but I'd never call them trash. Anyone else need this soap box? I'm done with it now. +1Subscribe this 100%

Model Factory William LOL
The AMT is a nice base for a good looking model but this goes to show that it can be transformed into something that would put some higher-end plastic/MM kits to shame. I am really enjoying seeing the various pieces you are engineering to improve the kit. Very interested in seeing what you will be building for replacement suspension.

These four blocks represent the uprights before tooling. After I am done here we will have what I refer to as a "naked" upright. Meaning one that has no caliper, no rotor and no spindle. All of those will be added after the creation of the corners.

After some roughing out and the center hole for the spindle hole being drilled out this is our basic shape.

This is a mockup spindle in location. It will be changed. This for reference only.

Fleshing out the basic components is a chore all by itself but well worth it after the part starts to come together .

Here , the bottom of the upright is starting to take shape. I already have the drive shaft holes cut to make room for the CV.

I have installed the half shaft to give perspective on the upright and to show how the corner looks with SOME of the gear installed.

I have trimmed the back off of this wheel half to give it proper depth after the install and it worked out well.

With a very tight fit , the entire assembly fits into the Lola wheel with zero issues.

The piece next to the new piece is the kit version of the upright. In my mind it is a VAST improvement and will give an incredibly convincing look once the model is complete. WELL....I hope you all enjoy the update. I will be back in a few more days with more. Thank you all for the kind words. Will

Fantastic work. How are you cutting the solid block down? Hand tools? Lathe?
