Mike, I've beeen using Testors Wet Clear on my recent builds with no problems. Just use some Solvaset decal setting solution when applying the decals as it will help bond the decals to the paint which will minimize the risk of wrinkling when clear coated.

Ok, I promised Mike a reference for the nose from the review video, and here it is. Looks like Dallara down low on the nose, additional Napa stickers on raceday, and particularly the Royal Purple on the top of the nose: no skew to the letters, same size, a little bit of skew to the checkerboard. Looks like Hypercoil above Emco on the side? Not sure what's behind it, then Reebok, then the race tech sticker.

Michael isn't it a good idea to "dust" a couple coats on first followed by then a heavy coat.

That is one of the best IRL paint schemes I've seen, the livery is really striking, those screen caps from the '98 race are awesome !

Updated sheet with what I can make out from Steve's shots. Thanks again! If you see anything I've missed, let me know. Next up is sizing.

That isn't on the race day car. He was using parts from Roe's car, it looks like.

All built up! Paint job isn't perfect, but I am excited to finally be on my way to finishing a conversion! Will take some pictures in the sun tomorrow with a decent camera instead of my iPhone. Also took measurements for decals, and will try to size them over the weekend.

Hey that looks pretty damn good. Man I hate scrolling back & forth on these threads. They are a mile wide.

Once when you start putting the decals on that is when the car will start to come to life. Looks great so far.

Those parts are from Roe's car (the backup, IIRC) because Kite had a big shunt.

Thanks to Michael for the great decals! I screwed up a bit on the size of the sidepods but they still look fine! Sorry the picture is blurry. I'll break out the nice camera once all of the decals are on. Letting the main ones dry before doing the contingencies.

Pactra makes a good fluorescent yellow in their RC Spray Paint lineup. It goes on flat, but very smooth. Still needs clearcoating, but it was the easiest to work with flat-fluorescent paint I've used.

Looks really good. That purple and yellow really look sharp together. Did you hand paint the wheels? They look really good. Keep up the good work.
