Here we go again! About the same time I started on the 2nd gen of my Wildcat I started on an 83 March which was actrally a 2nd gen also. Well about a week ago when I was waiting for Wildcat parts to cure Ive been messing around with a 3rd gen of my 83 March ((off topic) and the 81 Wildcat ) This current 83 March Im working on is actally a reworked 82 Wildcat resin, which is 10000X easier to work with than stupid Styrene. When I show the pics off tomorrow of the new WIP 83 March you'll say "hey that is an 83 March!" Trust me you will If not then well we are going to have a lot of work ahead of us to get this done....just like the Wildcat but I expect this March to take half the time and have way less struggle. I have some better Ideas to use this time around so it should be fun! This is my short term Resin plain: First 1983 March then later a 1984 March and after those the 81 Wildcat. Remember Winners first But first.....I still working on the Wildcats, that is first on my list before going all out with the 83 March. So if you have pics, info, and or any Dimensions of the 83 March. Let them LOOSE! Thanks!

Oh what the hell, here is what it looks like as of now. I was going to clean it up some more an show you tomorrow but who cares. Never-mind the surfaces give me your 2 cents on the shape. Just like the Wildcat, give me the truth. ;D Theres a lot to still do but just to give you an idea I only have 2 hrs all together into this so far...

Found these in the 84 CART annual (it covers the 83 season). Wheelbase:110-111 in. Front track: 65 in. Rear track:63 in. Chassis width:24 in. Additionally, I have drawings (top and side) of the 83 March in the Garage Area of my website. Hope this can help.

I'd like to use one of the late 80's AMT engine/Trans axles as a donor for the kit, Im trying to figure out which would be the best. I guess having a good pic of the 83's rear end would help with that decision.

That is awesome. I think I took some pics of the Sneva car at the Henry Ford Museum in Detroit a few years ago. I probably won't have a chance today, but maybe in the next few days I can get to my stash.

Maybe this isn't new information, but the photo albums at marchives have some good reference pictures for the 83 and 84 March.

I'm all for this version... Me too! but no way no how Im going to try making or casting those wheels! I have enough trouble with wheels. Everyone would be on there own on that. It looks like half of the Marches had those wire wheels and Thankfully the other half including the winner hand normal wheels that I can just get from a 86 March kit.

Those BBS wheels look very close to the Porsche 956 wheels. I could probably find something to source them out so they shouldn't be a problem. Nic

I get a very good feeling that with Calvin's work on the Wildcat and now this kit, we should have an influx of new WIPs. That is good news since we (me included!!) haven't had many new builds to show off here. A 1983 March is just going to start a revival of interest in early 80s cars. And Mike Portaro could be a busy guy yet again.
Anybody have a list of decals that they'd like to see? Not that this should sway Michael's workload at all. Just want to see what everyone else thinks.
I'd like to see the 1983 Pole Winning car of Teo Fabi. A couple more that Michael might be able to modify from existing sets would be the #4 Red Roof Inns and the #30 Domino's Pizza hot One. Of course I think we all want the #14!!

Im really happy with how things are heading with this car! Some of the questions I have are side pod width and Total length of the car nose to rear wing end. BTW the tires are in the correct (as far as I know) Placement as far as the front and rear track and Wheel base for 1/25th scale.

The side pod openings might be my only trouble on this scratch build. They kind of puzzled me on the Wildcat and They are puzzling with this.

One of the reason I take so many pics is its amazing how much imperfections I see by looking at a pic rather than in real life.

You guys with the C1 1/18 scale 84 Marches what is the width of the side pods, from the edge to the cockpit side.
Thanks

I'd have to spray some grey primer on to really show you how things are coming along but I did some work on it tonight and Im personally blown away how good it looks. After I clean it up and put some grey on, I might say that its very very close.....ALREADY! OMG! I only have 3 hrs into this 83 March and I'm in about the same stage as I was 2 months in with the Wildcat!!!!! I also have some really good ideas for the suspension setup..... And!......I think I have the production figured out to really haul AZZ! and thats for the Wildcat also! If you cant tell Im having fun!!!! I might just say screw being a model assembler and just do scratch build resin kits for now on!!!! Im being a little sarcastic. LOL ;D

This is looking great! What are you thinking in terms of an engine?

This is looking great! What are you thinking in terms of an engine? It looks like Im going to use the same curbside engine. The engine will never be seen.

It seems like I've been holding onto my Cady Texaco and Skoal decals forever! Now it looks like I'll be able to use them, but I have a sneaky feeling Michael will have those decals ready to go when you get this one done!

Excellent - the same thought crossed my mind when I first saw this thread. Those two would be 1 and 1A on my list. I only ordered one Wildcat, but I'd be up for at least two of these, maybe more.

Thanks Stu! I need the dimensions so I can compare and contrast because I dont have any "solid" dimensions of the 83 Side pods. But from looking at the picture I feel I have it close already.

I'm stoked. I might rent a storage unit just so I can start building again. The Wildcat, the March...the decals.. I have to get those. Nice job Calvin and Mike!
