It's definitely different. Right now it reminds me a LOT of the JS5, which didn't have the red pinstriping that later cars had and that this one will have.

It's definitely different. You seem a little unsure? IMO you got the color matching Dukecador's picture just right. The Teapot! LOL ;D ......well for the early JS5 I dont know made them think that having such a HUGE air box was going to help? LOL

Me too! What a difference decals make. The blue really has that glow now!! Picture #1 the blue is totally darker than Pic #2 Did you repaint the blue? or Is it just the lighting?

Nope, it's the same paint. Must be the lighting. Like I've said, blue is very difficult to photograph - slight changes can make big differences.

Nothing exciting but, its the most important part of body work, prep work. I'm not going to cut off the engine cover, Since Im a conservative model builder now. No! the real reason is I would kinda like to have a successful Tamiya F1 Build for the first time. Then I will go back to cutting and sawing up less expen$ive AMT indycars like I always do. ;D Also I changes ideas of what winning car Im going to be doing. Since I changed the side plate unlike what the Argentine winner had but a Spanish GP winner did. My mistake So I will Try to build Patrick D. Winning car Nothing new for Pro builders but things for beginners to think about. I sanded and used body filler for the glue seams, I kept on doing it 'tel the seam was gone...take your time....its worth it Primer is used for finding imperfections that might not be seen other wise with the naked eye. Next I will Primer the whole car, and it should be as smooth as Glass .......But first before primer, The car needs to be cleaned. (Very Important) Use a scratch pad to get rid of the shine off the plastic. Tamiya Paint (or Primer) does not stick to smooth plastic. After the shine is gone clean with dawn soap and scrub away. Let dry for for a few hrs. then prime ;D For the Trans axle I used Model Masters Gun Metal. To get the weathered look. I used Model Masters Aluminum Plate already dry.......already dry?........Yep, Model masters Aluminum plate for some reason after it drys leaves a dusty surface that will get on your hands.....So you guesses it, take your fingers to a part that has been already painted with that same Aluminum paint and wipe some of the residue off it and transfer that from your fingers to your Gun Metal Trans Axel. Sounds dumb but it works for me.

It always drove me nuts that you couldn't access the detail back there once it was assembled. I'm glad I cut that piece off. For the Trans axle I used Model Masters Gun Metal. Your paint discovery is why these WIPs are so good ( not to mention getting ideas for my 1/28 to 1/24 conversion!). Thanks Chaparral2K!

Nice work on the trans axle, it certainly looks real. I see trouble brewing, something has either broken or been CUT!!!!

I take it you used TS23?

I painted it just like yours. TS23 over TS10. You'll have to just take my word for it. It came out just like yours, but yet again my picture looks like straight TS23.

I'm not sure how it looks in person, but that's the hue I'm going for when (if) I ever build mine. Well done.

I'm not sure how it looks in person GIt looks just like Michael's picture. I dont have the knowledge or the good quality camera to get it to come out correct. I gave it a coat of white primer, 2 coats of TS10, and one covering coat of TS23. It really looks good in person! Tonight I'm going to Try taking some better pics for you guys. LOL Less blurry and try messing around with the picture color.

Calvin - don't forget, my photo does not look like it does in person either - it is impossible to replicate TS23 on the web.

Here is some updated pics, I wasn't able to get the picture matching the model. But better shots anyhow. I got the side pod decals on....for the Spanish gp cars the skirts were aluminum color. I also got the famous side pod plates worked out, they look great! Were the arrow is pointed toward is the closest example how the blue came out.....Well its still to dark.... ....The rest is way to dark. In person the car has a tab bit of dull French blue and that electric light blue. Basically its close to the screen shot I did from the 79 British gp. It is what it is Im not going to worry about it anymore. Sorry to bore you guys on this subject, Im tired of it too! LOL ;D Next here in a few days, I will do my traditional clear coat. To"melt the decals on" and give me that extra shine.

(there I go on that, been doing it for years thing again ) So much so...I threw around the idea of doing a 1980 JS15 Semi Scratch build
