Duke, that first shot is as good as any I've seen from back in the day - and it is nowhere near as dark as many other pics from the era make it out to be

Yes, I like the color of the top picture. But it does puzzle me just a little with its "aqua look"
I dont know what its, but on todays vintage race cars, especially 70's cars. They always seem out of place in my eyes? They look smaller than when they were raced?

Here's a little experiment I did. I took the photo of my JS11 painted TS10 (first image) and adjusted the levels in photoshop to approximate an underexposed image (second photo). Needless to say, the second image starts looking like a lot of those underexposed images from 79/80.

I tried playing around some more... french blue over red - no real difference. Mixed some french blue and TS44.. didn't like it. I really wish there was a TS-JS11 that matched the plastic. But I'm still leaning toward TS10, but will probably waver, flip flop and second guess right until the paint goes on. ;D Needless to say, the second image starts looking like a lot of those underexposed images from 79/80. wow, It sure dose So what are you leaning toward now? I also removed the rear engine cover from the body. I got tired of never seeing any gearbox or suspension detail.

Well, I finished up on the side plate, It came out how I wanted. I used the top of a Tamiya Spray can lid for my sanding radius....I just wrapped my sand paper around the lid and sanded down that nice curve. Then I primed it. Since I clear coat over my decals I always have to do my builds a little backwards, Plus I need to get rid of some unnecessary glue seams. BTW look how dark my blue plastic comes out with my junky camera

Well, it looks like I screwed up again, with the side plates...after looking at some pictures the of the JS11 from the first 2 rounds the Ligier's didn't have a rounded edge. But no worries it just wont be a Argentine winner. I like the rounded end better anyway.

But is there not a French Blue out there that would suit? I like TS-23 or even would consider X-14 and then hit i wih some 2K. But i am not building it right now, but will learn from you guys on the best colour choice. ;D

I think I decided to go with TS23 over TS10. Are you thinking one light coat of TS23? Just enough to give it that glow. I think the good pictures lean more to the TS10 side but they have that TS23 feel.

Just paint the damn thing!!!!!! :oWell!....(lol) Some craftsmen and modelers try to get it correct the first time, this way they don't have go back and re-do it again...Like with my Old Calhoun build. Also, trying to get it correct is no sin, but we are our own worst and harshest critics and the one, in the end, we must please. I have found over the years, wanting to, "get it right!" is a total pain in the rump, but, being like most modelers, a perfectionist, we try. I understand the need to try and get the color correct. It's a rare kit and they don't want to do it .....yet again. Advice is wanted and needed at times....Like my Grandfather once said to me..."Opinions are like rectums, everyone has one and sometimes they all don't smell sweet." Keep going until you get the color you want on the sucker! I did... Best to you! Russ

Well... it's painted. I painted the white on the nose, cockpit and fuel tanks and then did full coverage of TS10 and overcoated with TS23... It looks a lot like the first photo posted by dukecador at the top of this page. I'll have pics this weekend.

then did full coverage of TS10 and overcoated with TS23... How much T23 did you use? Was it one light coat? (just enough to cover) I'm looking forward to seeing it.
