Is there a conversion kit, or a kit itself of the 1979 Penske PC-7, doesn't look like it, but asking. Thanks

You beat me to the punch Brian! I just looked those up here on Open Wheel and when I went to post them I found that you already posted those links! LOL! Lance also did a resin conversion of the PC-7 for the AMT PC-6. They are like "hen's teeth" if you can find them, of course they go for a "pretty penny" when you do find one! Jim

Sorry, Jim, I was just sitting here contemplating the NASCAR-style Indy finish. Could have been a great race, turned into a cluster-@#$*!
Pretty much four ways to go with a PC-7 build: Scratch-build like Calvin; follow Bill Gebhard's FSM article; locate one of Lance's conversions; or use the even harder to find (and work with) Blue Line sheet stock conversion.

I asked Lance if he would pour a trans kit and he said that he couldn't. So...I scratch built mine, for the I did use Calvins Unser build as a reference at times. That Article in FSM is no help at all, as I have that. He stated it was in 25 scale and it's not. The Good thing is you can get the shapes on the side pods. Here's Calvin's wip on the PC-7. It's a great W.I.P. to work from... mb2501.proboards.com/thread/1605/norton-spirit-penske-bobby-unser Here's the car that I built of the Tim Richmond's 1980 PC-7 Indy "Rookie" car finished build that I finished... mb2501.proboards.com/thread/9613/1980-tim-richmond-rookie-indycar Hope this is a help..

Thanks for the tips, but how are the ground effects side pods made ??, you'd think this would be a kit all it's own since it was a unique car in 79' along with the Chapparal 2K.

Well you did a heck of a good job, I figured they were possibly 3D printed, they looked that good.

Lol I was 22 years old back then and no way could've afford a 3d printer. They weren't even readily available back then.

Looks like time to buy a styrene sheet and take a shot at this myself, talked to guy that does 3D printing for a company, he said far too expensive just to do one, oh well... thanks for the info you provided Calvin.

That's exactly what I used. .20 sheet plastic. You can find it at online @ Evergreen scale models. Here's the link for you... evergreenscalemodels.com/ Just click on it, and it will take you there.

Hey Brian....where can one find out about the BLUE LINE Styrene conversion kit? Who are they and are they still around?

Blue Line was Mike Beugel (sp?) who had the "other" Indy forum. Long gone, unfortunately. He did some pretty nice decals of some relatively obscure cars.

Calvin...I have that article and it's only good use is the shape of the pieces that are pictured. There are NO DIMENSIONS or measurements at all. He states that the pics of the car are in 1/25 scale, but they're not. If a person cut the pages out and sized them to 1/25, then they would be helpful. A person could get measurements then.

This may help you out. I did these measurements some time ago for another member. I measured these from Lance's update kit. The measurements are in US Customary units, namely inches. Jim
