Doing a little bit of front suspension work tonight. Most of what you see here will be modified or thrown away. The upper control arms have been fitted with rubber bushings and ball joints will be installed shortly.

Looks great so far. This was my favorite show when I was little. With Bo and Luke, NOT Coy and Vance.

I fully expect to be banned from this site for objecting to it. While I don't expect you to be banned, at this point, I wish you would listen to yourself. Flame wars and such are so very unfortunate and accomplish nothing. Anyone coming here and feeling like this forum can be used to continually air negative attitudes is a mistake. A more appropriate step is to message a moderator with concerns, that might have gotten you somewhere but your post did not accomplish your intended result. While you made a decent point in your post about the flag, the personal attack moots any validity in my mind. mb2501.proboards.com/thread/776/letter-communitySo, remember before you post - no profanity and no personal attacks - absolutely no exceptions! I will do some more this weekend. I fully expect to be banned from this site for objecting to it. Well....I hope you do not get banned for your opinion. Your objection is noted and I have thought about removing the post , but I will only do so if pm'd by a mod. I DO believe that the techniques herein will be useful to some of our junior member modelers .

Continue posting my friend! We're all about good models and a good model is a good model regardless if it's open wheel, closed wheel, a hydro boat, a tank, a figure or an airplane. They're all great to look at when done well. Modeling is a non-stop learning process for me. The Gen Lee build is a great source of scratch building and detailing ideas. Cal's race boat wood grain ideas are something I will use on some non open wheel/non car subjects in the planning stage. And so it goes with 'build' articles. I, and I'm guessing others, don't stick with just open wheel cars. Some do. Either way is OK. A member has voiced an opinion. OK, it's a free country and opinion noted. End of story. Time to quit beating that poor dead horse (hey, a diorama idea!) and move on with a good modeling article. Bring on the next Gen Lee installment.

Bring on the next Gen Lee installment. So, since I haven't been banned yet, I will make one further comment. Simply, there are about ten trillion to the billionth models that could be built. Why this one? Why on the Open Wheel Racing Forum? What specific modelling techniques are going to be demonstrated here that could not be found on a build up of a less controversial car? Remember, please, I did not pick this car. Meanwhile, advocacy for Gen. Lee should better be left to a Civil War forum. IMHO. pbh

I wish you would listen to yourself. As I indicated I expected to be outcast for expressing my objections. I can hardly imagine how my point of view would not be observed as overly strident by those who refuse to exercise good manners. Celebrating the Confederacy, however, is not amusing to me. Meanwhile, this car does not fit the description of Open Wheel Racing. All those "General" jokes and other remarks notwithstanding, it should be banned. Not me. pbh

That's enough. pbh51, do not post in this thread anymore and do not post about this thread anywhere else on the forum - fair warning.
Further clarification will come later. Until then, let's all just cool down for a while.

Not sure why there is controversy here. This is about building a model car after a long running popular TV show. Who cares what it has on it. I see people driving down the street in some of these cars. It is a cool looking car. Civil war was over 100 years ago let it go. Nice modeling tips. I love to see your ideals and techniques. This is what this thread is about. Keep the pictures coming we love them. Only thing I would add is may bee a picture of Daisy Duke.

My two cents... 1)you have a choice: either you can learn to get along and let it go, or you can let everything bother you and create drama 2)there is never any way everyone will agree 3)remember your Mother saying "if you can't say anything nice; don't say anything at all " 4)as a guy with a History degree, our history is convoluted and complicated; every part of it is still argued loudly on the news and in businesses, bars, and homes... 5)political correctness is used by those wishing to make a point: no one seems to realize that almost everything can be used because almost everything upsets some group [an example: NO ONE said anything bad when I had to enlarge Linda Vaughn's bustline; if that ain't sexist, I don't know what is..]
In conclusion, if you don't like it, just ignore it...I have never seen anyone's mind changed by a brilliant post or comment on social media... Tim

Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, it's a model car, not a political statement. I agree, everyone simmer down.

About the video: wouldn't the Hazzard County police stand a better chance of catching these guys if they removed all those ramps set up all over the County?

This will be the final look for the tire and wheel on this car. It screams mid 60's Indianapolis and road racing.
