Gentlemen, let me again welcome you to the Open Wheel Racing Modeling Forum.
Thankfully, the plug was not pulled on this forum. I was already investigating how much it would cost for a dot com and server time but maintaining this forum is in our best interests at this point.
I have already begun to reorganize the forums into slightly different. I have tried to combine the years of Indy car racing more uniformly. Both sides of the split are included in IndyCar on purpose to be more inclusive.
On the subject of the split, it is still a very touchy subject and if we cannot debate it with civility then those threads will be deleted instantly and the uncivil dealt with accordingly. That said, the last thing I want to do in life is discipline forum members.
So, remember before you post - no profanity and no personal attacks - absolutely no exceptions! We need to build each other up so that we encourage and support those in the hobby.
IndyCar and open wheel modeling is a hobby. Let's remember that and try to keep the forums a fun place to be that fosters this niche of the hobby. This is not a letter to the forums but rather one the community of which I am a proud member!
As of right now, no one is banned from the forums. Anyone who can follow the rules can be a lifetime member as far as I am concerned. So welcome your friends and/or welcome back an old poster.
Thanks to StoneCold44 for being the first admin to step up, DukeCador for recently stepping up to admin, and you for helping make this place worth saving!
Feel free to contact me via PM or email as your feedback is appreciated.
Kindest regards, Jordan Darwin

Jordan,
Good luck as the new man in charge. I know you'll do a great job and if you need my help, I'm here for you. If you want me to stay on as a moderator, count me in. I love this place and want it to remain as civil as possible. I think it is well policed by all members and the few times it got nasty, we tried to find a reasonable solution.
Again, good luck. We are all behind you and want this forum to flourish because we all benefit from it when it does.
Gregg

Thanks again to everyone for their positive feedback and support of our forums these last few days! ;D
As you have surely noticed, there are new sections here while some sections have been consolidated. The forums will be periodically adjusted in this manner if needed. If you have some feedback on what might work better in the forums, please feel free to contact me or the forum moderators.
One important change that I wanted to notify all visitors is that guests will no longer be able to post on the forums. This means that everyone wanting to post will have to create an account with the forums. Requiring an account to post is standard with most forums and now will be on our forums, too. I did want to just keep you guys in the loop.
Also, I want you all to know that if you have any problems on the board or with the people on it, that you can come to me personally.
Finally, I have figured out how to give my primary account most of the admin powers so I will only be using this account sporadically so to get the quickest response, contact me via the Indy user.

Thank you Jordan for your words. I love motor sports and the people that can be involved in all the aspects of our sport. I have made friendships on this forum and would like to continue to do so.

I humbly address fellow indy car builders with greatings and well wishes. My family and I reside in Speedway. I spent 30 Years in Group 22 in the south pits for IMS and celebrated my 53rd straight green flag this year. I build, collect, & research indy cars & indy car kits.
I look forward to interacting with fellow builders. Exchanging and confirming detail information on model projects has been rewarding over the years and I hope there are those who will appreciate and respect the data we're prepared to share. Looking forward to a fun experence, respectfully...........Jeff Marlott
In a few of the present projects decals are a constant concern. Looking a reliable , short run graphics computer type who can do two dimension color on an Alps color printer. Any takers?

Another So-Cal'er here, this time further south, San Diego. It's been awhile since I built anything (the last was the Reynard Eagle, when it first came out) but I have several I am beginning to work on. Big time Indy & CART fan. Was at the 500 in 1965 to watch my hero, Jimmy Clark win, with some kid named Andretti third. Been hooked ever since. I am currently selling off a bunch of old kits on eBay, but I am keeping all my Indy and most of my other open wheel stuff. I just know some day I will build, in one form or another, all three of the Hall of Fame sets that I have. Thanks to folks like IndyCals. It's amazing to find this forum. Great to be here!

Well, I ausme that's the best place to newbies to introduce themselves. So here we go. I am James, and from Spain. I am an F1 and Indycar fan from long. I started with F1 back in 1981, and noticed the Indycars back then too. It was eye-catching, it looked so similar to F1 and yet so different. It also had the added bonus that european press didn't care/know/bother/cover too much of it, what made it even more of an exotic and thus more attractive thing. My interest depended on magazines coverage, I have an '86 magazine that covered Indy 500. Not much: some pics of the winning Marches, a nice "exploded" drawing of Emo's car and a pair of pics of Unser's Penske (the one with MLaren looks) and junior's Lola. Yet it got me very interested in a moment when I wanted to have models of... everything. Sure I keep this mag as a treasure! I got some boosts of interest in later years, for instance when some TV stations broadcasted some '92 races, I watched Rahal's success with interest, curiously the same guy who had won '86 title and Indy 500! but particularly in a '94 Xmas trip to the US (OC, CA) when I bought some RACER mags and fell in love with '94 Penskes etc. I know Michael from Indycals for long, and he's the one who has given me the link to this seemingly amazing site. I love to do conversions, have a word or two to say about resin and though I am much speciallised in F1, I plan to have some day at least 2 or 3 cars from every Indy season from mid eighties onwards. I was not a fan of needle nosed modern IRL cars, but the fact that there are good diecasts to do them, plus Michael's excelent collections of pics, have been changing my mind lately. Anyway my preferences go from 1987 to mid or late 90's. One good thing as being european is that I have no special bias about series' split or politics, which seems to be a touchy subject. All I wish is that Indycar remains a nice and interesting championship as it's meant to be. I always was amazed that US had such a big and complete series, and all for you! Surely my anticipated apollogies when my ignorance lets me say some inconvenience! ;-) Other good thing is that, while at f1m for instance I can play the smart-(expletive deleted) role suposing I am an expert in eighties, (heheh) here my knowledge is so limited that I will ask thousand times more often than rather answer. So I can simply seat, enjoy the show and learn there seems a lot to learn and watch here. To make yourselves an idea, I was wondering how a site like this didn't exist. NOW I know it does Thanks Michael! Oh yes: I have family in the US: to be precise, my ouncle and aunt at Glendora Ave. in OC, CA. Russ, they are your neighbours it seems, maybe you know each other! Anyway, a pleasure to be here!!!

Sorry for missing the fight earlier this weekend, I'm going to have to look into it over the next few days. Hard to believe the few guidelines we have here cannot be followed.

My 2 cents. I was invited here 1 year ago by my friend Stu & thought it was a nice place to learn things & showcase my work. I've been a member of SPEED forum for years & saw all the fighting between members after the split AND even all the crap talk after Champ Car went belly up....ridiculous! I assume we are all men posting here but a few act like children. This is a modeling forum I believe, with general information. I have other avenues to showcase my work so if it does not continue, no biggy for me, but I hope it stays. There are many talented members & I love seeing their projects & helping out if I can.
