I’m debating on this one do I keep the wheels in the kit chrome or strip them and use Alclad s I feel it’s more realistic...options please.

Looks great, Shayne! I always opt for the Alcad myself.

Molotow chrome pen? Asked for options. Nothing at all against alclad.

Well done. Love the engine detail. Valve cover bolts and the tubing highlighted makes it sweet.

Stoked to see this one getting an engine. You have done some nice work on the engine and transaxle, keep it up!

Molotow chrome pen? Asked for options. Nothing at all against alclad. Vote #2 for Molotow. From a recent test, results seemed to show that applying at the lowest possible pressure provided the clearest results.

Nice. Good to know. I have seen alclad and i have seen the molotow pen. I got a 4mm pen for the Helio i have been working. ( Apparently i have lost the touch to painting, as i have ordered my 3rd can of ts16) He ran "metalized" ( lack of another term) engine vents in this year in the 500. I suggested it as merely an option. Thank's for the application trick.

I am not sure what i have done wrong here, this is just a mock up i was doing the other night and as you can see i have a serious gap from engine cover to tub...

To me, it looks like you did not get the tub back far enough. In you mock fit there is no gap on the underneath and on this picture, there are gaps of course on the engine cowling and right below where the side pods are. If the engine fits in place on the back and there is a gap in between the firewall and engine block than the tub is not back far enough.

If you do that then there will be a gap in the back of the engine cowling by the suspension pieces.I think when you glued the tub to the underframe you did not get it back flush all the way. I do not know if you can fix that without starting all over. Hopefully, someone has a better solution this is turning out to be a great looking model.

I think I have an answer to the fit problems. On each engine at the lower back there is a small triangular dorsal fin that is used to help separate the mold making the engine a lot easier to remove when cured. This small triangle needs to be removed. As I said it is underneath the back side of the engine. I just put some of the parts together and I needed to remove that to make the trans-axle snug against the back of the engine. Hope this helps you and any others that have these engines.

OK I am basically done now except the wheels and tyres. Ever time I do one of these I have issues with the wheels going onto the tyres. Anyone have any tips to get these in easily and to have the tyres looking symmetrical and not lopsided?

Hard to believe these kits are 20 years old and still look this good. Nice job on this one, Shayne. The paint and the details are really well done. I like the finishing on the engine, too.
