One of my other sub themes that I build are 1/43 Can Am cars. Marsh kits a wonderfully engineered, accurate models, luckily I bought many of them when they were around $50 a piece or so...now kit prices are $80 to $100.

Amazing detail work! That chassis was pretty dominant in the northeast in the early to mid-1970's, designed and built by Dick "Toby" Tobias, it was the first factory-built dirt modified chassis, replacing the old tri-5 Chevy, IH Scout and even older production car junkyard frames. While I admire your work to the extreme, please be advised that this car would not be called a "supermodifed", any car with an even vaguely recognizable car body is a modified, and this frame was used pretty much exclusively on dirt, a few tracks ran purpose-built dirt cars on asphalt occasionally as a novelty. Also, this chassis is SOOO much heavier than a super it wouldn't be competitive. None of this is meant as criticism, just history, as I watched these cars on a weekly basis for 5-6 straight years in the '70's and currently race with several clubs that run this era of cars now. I also sometimes build fantasy cars in a "what if" fashion, they can be great stress relievers! I would recommend some dirt tires for it, tho! Please post more pics as you progress.

It takes a certain type of person with a particular mindset to build repetitive models for a living, and keep going at it. I built some batches of 1/43rd scale models way back in the 70's as a supplement to my regular job. After a year I had enough as it was uninspiring building models of subjects that were of no interest to me for a middle man to sell on.

The production work paid the bills and did become tedious at times. The real joy came in building one-offs. Unfortunately, I needed the middleman as he had the contacts to the clients with deep pockets. He turned out to be a real 'Richard' in the end and stiffed me for some builds. That was the end of that.

The Carrera race winners have been completed. Finished the final piece of the puzzle with the completion of the 1951 Ferrari 212.

Back in January I participated in a FB 24 hour build challenge. I've been doing this for the last 4 years and it coincides with Daytona race weekend. This was my entry this year completed in 23.5 hrs. It's the old Lindberg kit with a few mods...lol.

Love the wild tanks of WWI. Great diorama, too! Congrats on the award.

Now that bike is way too cool, Mrindy! Do you ride it much? When it runs...lol. She is a very cantankerous Italian beast. You need Schwarzenegger like legs to kick it over. Its a blast to ride but has left me stranded a few times. I'm pretty sure its an ignition issue. Runs on a Motoplat electronic ignition system...no battery. I have other bikes to ride as well.

I've always wanted to drop in a Yamaha SR500 thumper into the Ducati frame but those bikes are hard to find now.

I raced a 250 Diana and a 350 Sebring for a few years, 72 to 75 or so. Fast bikes, no brakes by today's standards, but we were young.
Thanks for the memory (and the pic).

I work with a couple of sprint car teams here locally and looking back on what was state of the art is always an eye opener. No way in hell I’m climbing into a sprint car with no safety equipment and no cage. They didn’t think anything of it.
