Back in the day when I built so that I could eat...I was an artist whom was not starving. I built 33 of these Maserati Birdcages, its feast or famine when you try and build models full time.

The Barchettas were the final project before I starved. I was literally building them as the parts were coming out of the molds. It was difficult as I only was paid when the cars were completed and delivered. These were some beautiful models and the build fee $750 a piece. I took about a month to build all 6 cars. Then after 2 years of doing as a full time job it was time to move on. I still build for a few select customers but not on the scale I did back then. In one year I had built 133 models. Production runs and one off commission builds.

These were 1/20 reworked MPC McLarens and resin cast. I built 15 of these fully detailed and plumbed. These were supplied on a nice wooden plank with a brass badge signed by Denis Hulme. I had nothing to do with obtaining the the signatures, I only built the models and cashed the checks. Denis passed away the week in which I finished these orange steam rollers. Sidenote - don't leave your Tropicana orange juice next to your Mclaren orange paint in same container...bad things could happen.

If you know the name of this 1/43 scale car you win the internet for the day.

Currently on the bench for a very good client...a very rare L'Orangerie Moderene T57 Chassis in 1/43. This is a challenge...multi part leaf springs, plug wires, photo etch it's fully loaded with all the goodies.

Really nice, I love the Can Am McLarens
When I hung out with Leary, he had some great things to say about Denis. Sorting cars and being a pretty normal guy who enjoyed a couple of beers after work.

It kind of looks like an HRG 1500, but I know it isn't as they had a sloping door line (and were a pretty cheap car)

My brother and I are big fans of the original Carrera Pan Americana road race, it was a brutal test of man and machine. Each year I build a couple of 1/43 kits for him and his collection. Here a few I have pics of. These are both Starter kits. I remade all of the decals and printed on the ALPS for better accuracy and quality. The Mercedes represent the car before 'buzzard bars' were affixed. If you are familiar with the race you'll know what they are.

Great update, I like them all. The Spirit of America Porsche is probably my favorite. What in the world is the glass top Panamericana car? Can't recall ever laying my eyes on that particular car ever!!
