Of course I have Pro Tech braided line throughout, but I added some to the interior per the reference pictures. Here are some "finished" shots I took in a booth called a Shotbox that were available for use at the GSL. I didn't get the lighting right, so I messed with the pics a little. Still not great. A couple of notes I didn't show. The tires were replaced with Indycals tires for accuracy. I also used aluminum rod instead of the white metal roll bar so I could polish it up. I used Pro Tech nut and bolt heads for the windshield. I also added what I think is a trans cooler and a tank on the right side, and the turbo inlet. Thanks for looking!

Art, this is a beautiful build with so many great details! The finished product is superb and again the WIP just helps us understand a lot more of what went into it.
I hope to one day be able to see this in person to marvel at it all!!!

Ha! Yep, it's true. I was happy to win anything at all, but I was completely shocked to get Best of Show at an IPMS event with a car, since I've never seen that happen before. It was a smaller show, but I have to admit, it was pretty cool and I'm definitely smiling about it. Thanks, guys, and Lance, thanks for a great platform!
And thanks to Jimmy Rass for his contribution...

If it were possible for me to build a model anywhere near the caliber of your Mongoose, I would be entering it into every contest I could find! This thing has set a new bar! How incredible is your Mongoose? My wife loved it! Raved about it! That's a high bar to clear! Congratulations...

I have plodded on through post after post on here to find some absolute gems had been posted before I really got stuck in. This is right up there so forgive bringing this beauty to the fore again.
But there is another reason for me doing this.
I know about the drawings I could possibly get through Walt (old photos). I have sent him a PM. But do wonder if it is the right Mongoose.
I am looking at doing one of these at 1/32nd for a particular slot car meeting in July over here. I have McNamaras and looking at potentially doing the Lola T153 at that scale. That is what the creativity on this site inspires me to. But for all the Sunoco Blue, STP red and McLaren Orange we all turn out and run I would love to get a version of this running in true stars and strips colours. Would not be that difficult to make. Just need dimensions.
If anyone has this model and is happy to let me have its dimensions at 1/25th, I can do the rest. Lenght. Width. Height and wheelbase. I know it is 'off topic' but I can then get my chassis sorted to match these dimensions and crack on. I hope one of you can help with this.

I’m glad that this thread came back up. There’s an epilogue to this build that I hadn’t shared with you all that I wanted to but just never got around to it. When I posted the “finished” photos, there were a couple of things I had wanted to do. The first thing is that I never got the fuel buckeyes on there, and the other thing is that the wheels were not really accurate for this car. So I added the fuel buckeyes, and mastered a new wheel center that I used for the front and the rears. Then something else happened. I was approached from a gentleman who saw pictures of the model online, and reached out to me to see if I would sell it. I don’t like to sell my models because I build so few of them, but once in a while a circumstance comes up where it’s interesting enough to be a cool situation, and this turned out to be one of those. The original plan was to build another Mongoose kit and build it, and keep the best one and sell the other. I got a kit for that purpose (thanks, Sandy!), but the time just wasn’t materializing. So I decided to just sell this one and build the other one later. It turns out, person that was buying the model grew up in Wichita Falls, TX, Lloyd Ruby’s hometown, and knew him and his entire family, and wanted to gift the model to the Ruby family. He had planned to actually fly to California to hand carry it home, then Covid happened. During the downtime, we became friends and he came up with a new idea. He would fly me out to Texas, and I would get to present it myself. So in November of 2021, that’s what happened. I got to present the model to Lloyd’s daughter, Mary Ann, at the Texhoma Racer’s Reunion in Wichita Falls. Here are some pics of the updates and the presentation. I got to see our family’s old friend, sprint car legend Shane Carson, at the event. David Herrell, who purchased the model and sponsored the trip, is in the middle.
