I'm really getting excited about this one for some reason. I had been thinking about Bobby Rahal's car awhile back and Michael told me to keep my fingers crossed. A couple things I personally remember about the March 86C was first a 1986 Indy car preview show on ESPN. Bob Jenkins and the late Larry Nuber were all a twitter about the roll bar. Terrible things could happen! Also, I got to see the cars in person at Elkart Lake for the race there that fall. Went to Saturday qualifying. Good thing I didn't plan on the race as it was rained out. Think they ran it the following weekend. Looking forward to finally after all these years putting my detail photos to work! Hope it isn't too soon though. Got to stick with that Ferrari! Paul Erlendson

Terrible things could happen! Yeah that Roll triangle was crazy! IMO Also, I got to see the cars in person at Elkart Lake for the race there that fall. Went to Saturday qualifying. Good thing I didn't plan on the race as it was rained out. Think they ran it the following weekend. Yep it got washed out and rescheduled for next week and was not shown on TV...it was the last time an Indycar was not shown on TV. Hope it isn't too soon though. Got to stick with that Ferrari! Haha! It will be very soon! So you might have to put your Ferrari away for a little while!

OK, I did the tear scoops Oh cool! Looks like you found some good reference! Yeah, PJE sent me some good pics. I don't know how well they will work but the shape is there for anyone who wants to play with it. I should emphasize, that these parts are not going to be a cure-all to build a perfect 86C - there will be some creativity needed on the part of the builder to get the specific car you want, but these parts will alleviate a LOT of the work necessary to do one right. There are just so many minor variations from one car to the next that it is impossible to do a 'one-size-fits-all' solution.

I think I'm going to do one more part - a new plenum, and that will be it.

Am I incorrect in thinking the 1/25 amt March 86c is usually pretty plentiful on eBay, but looking just now, there is only one for sale with multiple bids? hmmm, Wonder if this is the reason they are thin pickings right now

I think I'm going to do one more part - a new plenum, and that will be it. For the Cosworth? Hopefully we will see some March builds now. Maybe someone will be brave enough to try putting an IndyCals Buick in their 86C! Jordan

I think I'm going to do one more part - a new plenum, and that will be it. Darn. I was starting to feel a little greedy and was hoping for a set of rear brake scoops too. Paul Erlendson

[time to give Paul a hard time] OMGosh! Paul! LOL! It would only take you like 5 mins to sculpt one out of styrene....it would prolly take Michael an hour to draw it up! Then more than $10 to print them. LOL!

One funky think about the 86C is that the turbo unit was perpendicular to the engine. Thus a new plenum also necessitated some new exhaust pieces. This is the last I'm doing on this. I hope like hell it fits!!!

Great, great job as ever, Michael! I was afraid at reading thread title, thought you meant the front tub/bodywork was wrong too!

I went and dug through my stash in storage and I have four 86 C kits. I have the Rahal decals, so just need these parts and some more decals. When do you think these may be available, Michael?

Anal me is struggling with the top of the transaxle and the heat cover that is replicated in the kit. Was this in fact used on the cars at Indy? 1986 and 1987? Part of my confusion has to do with me seeing the cars at Elkhart Lake in the fall of 1986. They were not installed on any of the Marchs that I photographed. I understand that the road course cars could have been different than the speedway cars. Any photo evidence either way for the superspeedway cars?

LOL! Paul, I just did a facepalm! The older I get the more facepalms I find myself doing in the model building hobby.
