If you say so. I highly recommend getting some Apoxie Sculpt to sculpt out your side pods. www.amazon.com/Apoxie-Sculpt-1-Lb-White/dp/B0013UDWXITrying to cut out thick plastic styrene is not going to make life easy in 1/64. Also you still need to go way thinner of styrene on your Honda Airbox fin.....and after you super glue on your styrene fin use the apoxie sculpt to blend in the transition between plastic and diecast. I just ordered this. Will give it a try. thanks Calvin I just ordered two 1/64 Greenlights on ebay so I can do a WIP on a Chevy and Honda conversion....plus I need an example for my new bumpers and stuff!

Actually Mike the big putty work is actually Bondo auto body filler which is two part. Tamiya Putty would crack if put on to thick. Once I get the shape I want, I will use glazing putty for final shape and scratches, etc... The mold is a good idea but you would have to have a lot of people wanting to do the conversion to make it worth it. For me this is a one off and probably the only one I will do. Stu Very cool. I just hate to see such perfectly modeled sidepods go to waste if a mold could be made before you paint them up. Hell, maybe you'd have to do the whole thing in resin, and then you wouldn't have to cut anything. For a guy like Calvin -- what kind of investment is it for you to make a mold just in case there is future demand?

Luckily the Honda side pods are not that tricky of a shape......Stu has done a good job sculpting it out of Bondo but IMO its not a very hard shape to replicate......if they don't come out with a proper die cast then it won't be that be that big of a deal to shape one out and make a mold. I think at this point most are hesitant to start spending money and making resin parts just in case they do come out with a proper die cast.

I hear you on that. I've only heard that the 500 winner would be done, but I don't have a ton of confidence that Greenlight will do the 2015 Chevy Aero just for one car, especially when it could drastically change for next year.

I was told that Graham wanted one for himself after seeing Oriol's car from last year. I suppose if Graham see's this one and still wants one of his own that I would do it. In that case a mold would be nice. The issue doing a mold now is cost and the customer having to wait that much long until I can have the original back.

It could be done (the side pods) It would be an interesting mold set up as well! and YES not cheap!

Here's an update from me. Redid the fin (per Calvin's suggestion and shaped the side pods. In the background are other cars I'm working on. (17 2015 Hondas)

Here's an update from me. Redid the fin (per Calvin's suggestion and shaped the side pods. It looks better but I suggest that you cut down the top of the fin (See yellow line) Try cutting it off or even sanding it down....if its glued on good you shouldn't have to break it off! After that take your Apoxie Sculpt and fill in the area I highlighted in red. Also to take some lighter grit sand paper and smoothing out your side pods without rounding off your sharp edge of the Honda side pod. As time goes on I'll have more recommendations for you! I think everyone would agree the thinner airbox fin looks way better than the thick one.

Stu, that's looking awesome! Don't forget to trim the "dimple" sticking out of the fin on the undertray. IIRC neither company ran with that little fin.

Calvin, that apoxie scult is great. Here's an update on the fin and side pods. Still have more sanding and touchup to do but I'm please so far. That is until you correct me. The engine covers look too big?

The engine covers look too big? The car sitting in the background of the picture is pretty close...the car in the middle - the engine cover is too big, and the car in foreground is EXTREMELY TOO BIG.

I agree. How do the side pods look? The one in the background looks the best try to replicate that one for the rest..... along with sanding down the side to match up with the front part of the side pod.

Other than a few very small spots, the left side body mods are done. Now to duplicate it on the right side.

Looks great so far! How do you replicate the other side? Do you eyeball it, use a contour gauge, or something else?

Here's my update. The picture makes the engine cover look a little big but I think it is pretty close. I hope you can see the car even though I primed it in flat black.

Been massaging and massaging the side pod body work over and over again but think I am getting close. Took a break from sanding and filling pin holes and did some carbon fiber decal work.
