You are just a kid, Calvin. Do you even know what a record player is, and how it works?

Calvin, how do you keep coming up with these cool things?? I can remember when songs like that were new and fresh. Who can forget Robert Mitchum singing Tobacco Road? Thanks for the memories.

Sometimes you make it too easy, Calvin. I was recently reminded that some folks take things on posted on any message board way too much to heart. I think I will tone it down, just a bit. Don't worry, I won't become Mr Nice Guy

More progress- Checkers anyone? The shock and steering arms Little steps- gas cap, windscreen, exhaust On all four! Starting to decal But I have found NO reference photos of the right side. Do I use the shield, does the flying horse go on the headrest side or lower, where are the sponsor markings placed? And what about Jimmy? PLEASE HELP OR ADVISE

If you have Karl Ludvigsen's Indy Cars of the 1950s there are right side photos on pp. 62 and 63. If not, the Mobil flying horse goes below the headrest in front of the rear number. The Dean Van Lines decal fills the panel in front of the rear wheel with the "SPL" just behind the panel line. In the panel just ahead of the Dean Van Lines decal the sheet with the Perfect Circle, VT, Monroe, USAC and Bowes Seal Fast mount like you have them on the sheet meaning the Perfect Circle is toward the back. I think the Jimmy Bryan decal goes on the cowl in front of the windshield mounted at an angle like you did on the left side. Walt could tell you for sure. Hope this helps. Jim

Looking great. Interesting how you do the wheels, and tires. I always paint the wheels first. Jim is spot on about the right side markings.

Decals on the Kuzma There is NO Bowes Seal Fast Decal on this car, if you look at photos the decal that looks like the Bowes Seal Fast decal is a Indy 500 decal that is a checkered flag. Look at Indycals 1956 Filter Queen Spl. or the 1956 #53 John Zink Spl. you can see this decal. The VT decal is Voit Hoses decal. The Mobil Horse decals go on the top of the body just below the headrest behind the cockpit, like you have on the left side. I'm still trying to find a photo of Jimmy's name on the Right side of the car.
Hope this helps Oldphotos Walt

The laps are winding down. I'm hearing strange noises coming from the engine, there's a new vibration, do I have enough fuel? Thank you Oldphotos for the checkered flag-not Bowes Seal Fast info. I found in the spares a RM sheet for the Kurtis car that had those decals. I scraped off the BSF and replaced with the flag. And did the right side Still wondering about a right-side Jimmy. . . .

Tim, I've listened to The Ballad of Thunder Road a half dozen times since you posted it. Sobering to realize how much I forgot, like the Acme oil dumper. Now that was pretty slick! Thank you.

This looks great. Glad you got it finished. The photos I mentioned do not show a "Jimmy" on the right side. I saw a photo of another built model of this that included it but I do not know for sure. I would wait to see what Walt comes up with. Jim
