We're back. . . I drilled the suspension bracket and added small wire to attach springs and top links. Rolling spring wire. And getting pieces together to make to spring/shocks Dan, I’ve been following along with great interest from the start when I saw the Fisher Wheels and tires, as they are exactly what I’m looking for my rear engine Scarab model. Hopefully Fisher has some extras that they will sell me. One of my own personal challenges has been with making good looking spring shocks. I’ve seen the technique that you used many times before, but I’ve never found wire suitable to the task. Can you tell me what type of wire you used and where it can be found? Keep up the great work. This is fun to watch. Paul Erlendson

Thanks for the kind thoughts, one and all. Paul, back in the day when I taught Junior High Science, I wrapped coated copper wire around a nail, hooked a battery to the wire and made the nail into an electromagnet. The natives all fell down in awe and worshiped me as their god. Well maybe some of that didn't happen but I saved a spool of that wire and use it as you have seen. Copper so it is easy to work with and coated so it looks like not-copper. Viz.

Thanks Professor! One more question. Can you give me an idea as to what diameter/guage of wire that you're using. It looks to be perfect for 1/25th-1/24th scale. Paul Erlendson

I just found this great detail shot of your Hewland being used on a M10! Nice suspension attachment points. Patrick

Thanks Patrick. Now I've got to tear it all apart and build it with those mounts. Seriously I really appreciate the steady stream of fresh images. The M10B canon continues to expand.

I will use that image to lace an oil line on the gearbox, as shown. Thanks again.

Added a fire bottle And since I'm refinishing the nose, I might as well reshape the opening in front of the front springs. I can't even get out to shovel, it's so cold here.

Those are fantastic! Can-Am cars are so sexy. You've convinced me: I need to grab some of those Fisher cars while I can. Hope I can do halve the job you did. MJ

Finally paint dried enough to mask over. Thanks to Calvin for PMA tape idea, the curves were sort of manageable, not impossible as they would have been for me. There are some blurps that I will try to cover up and blend in. I used Tamiya white and red and Testors dark blue as being a close match to Indycals sheet and I didn't have too many other close color matches in spraycans to choose from. Once the blue dries (next month prolly) I'll applhy what decals I have.

The further you get along the more realistic this beauty looks. I have always avoided models that need masking for multi colour bodies, you have taken the bull by the horns.
Very nice.

YES!!!!!! A fine job you're doing! I've decided to attend the Laguna races(they will always be the Historics to me and not the Rolex blah-blah)simply because of the F5000 race! A full grid of these beasties...loud and satisfying! This has been great to watch how you've done you model. Thanks.
As I was reviewing your WIP I just flashed on a group get-together with all of our F5000 cars displayed! Wouldn't that be something? Just so cool!
