This has been on my mind for a long time. Thanks to a serving of Patrick Cereal I got in a small neighborhood store (thank you Mr. Serling), I am motivated to proceed. I am accumulating parts and plan to use Michaels decal sheet for the John Cannon Eagle in this application. The wheels/tires are from a Fisher M6A, probably not perfect size, but look pretty good. I have these available due to mods I made to the M6A, using MPC Eagle Parts. CAUTION the following image has fenders Mid January Im out of town for a while, but plan to move this along as expeditiosly as I can. More to follow. . .

That fendered M6 is beautiful! If I can help in any way just ask! I will enjoy watching how you solve some of the challenges. The rear monocoque was extended to cradle the Chevy engine and a plate was added to connect the two sides that would also get bolted to the bell housing/transaxel. You've chosen a great car and driver combo to model! Patrick

Thanks Patrick, I appreciate the offer. I'm thinking of using the transaxle from the Heller kit. According to McLaren! by Eoin Young both the M7A and M10B used a DG300 Hewland 5-speed. Would the Cannon car have been uprated to a larger trannie? I'm planning to use a Weslake shortblock from the MPC Eagle and dress it up with valve covers and properly spaced intake and exhaust so it might look OK. I'll stick a distributer on the back of the valley cover in Chevvie style too. Any thoughts? More pix to follow. . . Thanks, Dan

I forget which Hewland I used, more than likely the MPC one. As for the Cannon car...I don't know (nor would the majority of folks!). R&T had a great article and drawing. I'll see if I can find a cutaway. For the engine I used a Monogram sprint car unit as it was 1/24. Anyway go for it Dan! Oh, and the shocks will need to be adjusted for the different tires. Patrick

I love watching how we solve the same problems differently (re: the rad outlets)! I built all 4 of the Cox Ferraris slightly differently in the front suspension! Crazy, eh?

Snow shoveled (twice!), laundry up to date, dogs paid attention to, I proceed: I had intended to scratch some intake pipes from alu tubing and Gurney Weslake trumpets but I forgot I had ordered an extra metal set from Kevin for his Eagle 755 which just arrived so voila: No more tubing cutting! I bent some pipes from the Gurney kit so they match more closely the exhaust spacing on a Chevy and I refined the shape of the rear forks Obviously lots more to do

Just remember, Frank, mowing the lawn can get "rained out", just like the races, but shoveling can NEVER get snowed out! Great progress on the F-5000, thanks again for the "care package"!

This is one of my favorite kits (I have a thing for orange McLarens), I think it could really use some Indycals 3D tires and wheels - Michael. I am really enjoying your work on this one, there are more than a few cars that can be built from this kit and you have chosen a cool one. Motor Racing Replica News did a great article on the McLaren M7-10 cars.

Slow but steady is my speed. . . I noticed the leading arms on the front suspension are both same length top and bottem so I added mounts, also the rears that I had sanded down. Working on the Chev- modified Gurney Eagle exhausts, intakes from Kevin Kuzman, distributer from scraps and wires, etc More to follow
