bevita,
Bravo, my friend...stunning work on a white metal kit. White metal is hard enough to work with much less solder, modify, sand, etc..etc..
I have enough trouble working with plastic...
Great stuff!
Cheers, Ian

In looking over some of my research material for my upcoming 1962 156 Sharknose build, I started looking through my copy of “Ferrari 156 Sharknose” by Ed McDonough. On page 67 is a photo of Oliver Gendebien in the car and you can clearly see that the cover is made of holes and not a mesh. In fact, not just the screen for the 65-degree car but also the screens for the 120-degree cars are made using the same method. Just saw the Exoto model on a Facebook post this evening and they got it right. Fortunately for me, the covers on my 1962 car were clear Plexiglas. However, Special Shapes www.specialshapes.com/index.html used to make a brass mesh that might work, SSM-05, but I don't see it listed on their site. Might not hurt to ask them. Paul Erlendson

Thank you very much Paul for your precious contribution... unfortunately my Sharknose is finished and I really don't want to make this modification now... I hope it will be useful for the other guys that want to build models of this fantastic car...
Just my curiosity: how MFH rendered this cover in their kit?

My kit was sitting at the back of my stash and hard to get to. MFH gives you two photo etch screens that you have to form using a male and female metal buck. The screen they provide is a hex mesh pattern. No, I will not be drilling out every hex hole to make it round. Stu might think that I'm that anal, but "A man's got to know his limitations".
