Hello, fellow "Open Wheel Modelers" ! My name is John and I live in northeast Florida. I use to be an avid F1 modeler in the 90's, but due to marriage (happy) and corporate life I kind of got away from it. I did, however, continue building military armor kits. It's a big transition, because as many of you probably know, building tanks is a much different discipline; they're dirtier !! I was hoping to find, upon my return to building F1 kits, that there would be a plethora of aftermarkets detail sets (like the thousands for military tanks), but from my initial googling for such F1 detail sets, I haven't found much. I was hoping to find parts for various Tamiya 1/20 scale. Back in the day, Cody Grayland machined several parts for me, both for my 1/20 and 1/12 scale Tamiya F1 kits. I am hoping to learn a lot, share some of my builds in progress, as well, as ask who are the companies offering excellent F1 machined parts/photoetch for the Tamiya 1/20 kits....oh, I also wanted to add that I loved building the Tamiya 1/20 Indy car kits (2 of them); I certainly wish Tamiya would have offered more of those. I tried several resin kits back in the day, but I didn't find them well designed (hoping that has changed too). Again, I'm looking forward to watching your builds, conversing with all of you, learning, and sharing !! John

Thanks for the warm welcomes! I've been going through many of the posts and I am impressed with the dedication and the awesome builds! After looking through the Indy car forums, I may just have to try and find a Tamiya 1/20 '93 Lola kit...though I haven't been able to find decals in that scale; I'd like to do a "concept" car using the M@r1b0r0 decals ( kind of like Fittipaldi's car).
Can someone recommend some resin kits (Indy) that are of high quality? Again, thanks a ton for the welcome, and I'm looking forward to participating!

John If you are looking for quality Indy resin then take a look here. A lot of good stuff in 1/25 (and other scales) from all eras of Indy. mb2501.proboards.com/thread/4/aftermarket-dealersThe actual M@r1b0r0 decals are easy to do on a home printer, but Classic Racing Resins offers M@r1b0r0 decals in 1/18 on their Parts Store page if that is close enough for you. Another option is the set of decals that Studio 27 did for the '93 Penske but it is not cheap and there is no transkit body at this point. However, it would get you close for a concept/fantasy Lola. mb2501.proboards.com/thread/1351/20-decals-senna-penske-testJordan
