Absolutely beautiful for sure. The detail is great. I'm looking forward to seeing this. Thanks as always Lance.

You keep posting these pictures and your going to make me build a Carl Williams car as well!
what are you using for engine struts? welding rod or aluminum tubing?
Now remember you don't want Frankie Delroy getting on your about those hobo fuel filler caps and their spring retainers!
Looks great (as usual) nice seeing you the other day

Lance, you devil! When will we see the tires?! The anticipation to see those, well I know they will be something special. And, they'll be perfect for my McLaren M16A too. Here's to receiving a package from you soon to make my McLaren stable just about complete. It looks outstanding. Paul Erlendson

I have to come up with a new tire color now that Floquil paint is no more. Will probably try to mix something that resembles what I was useing (grimmy black).

So far Testor's have killed the old, excellent Pactra paint line, most of their own Testor's automotive line and then Floquil. I sure hope Tamiya isn't bought by Testor's!! The McLaren is looking really awesome. Looking forward to the finish

I always thought the back of that car was ugly from the cockpit back. But being a Revson car, it's a must have. And yes, it's beyond sweet.

It is really starting to look like the 1:1 with that great detail work in the cockpit, the decals, and the very complex suspension. Awesome build, Lance!!

Krylon "Ultra Flat Black", rub sidewalls with your finger, use a tiny bit of whte or gray chalk rubbed into the tread area. M15 looks super, can't wait for them to get here! Brian

Another option is from Tamiya, in their TS spray can line they have a Rubber Black color, part number TS-82.

Thanks to Hubie I have one more can of Floquil grimy black, but nowing this will be my last, I have mixed my own version of it with testors paints to shoot through my airbrush. I still plan to try Tamiya TS-82 and some Humbrol #85 semi-gloss black.

To improve the fit of some parts, I will be remolding the engine cover and right side radiator cover.

Right side radiator cover? The oil cooler pod?
Looking good!

What do you use to keep the putty from sticking to the resin when you are forming it on? I've always used saran wrap as a barrier until the putty dried.... BTW everything looks fantastic. I noticed the Blue disappeared on the rear wing (I'm guess you placed a different wing there for later showcasing the different options)

I first cut out a thin piece of plastic in the shape of the opening of the cockpit and glue it into the opening, I use just enough to hold it in place but so I can easily break it out when done. I then cut out a piece in the shape of the side profile of the windscreen and glue that securely into place. I then cut out a piece shaped like the opening of the windscreen and glue that into place, this "frame" will be filled with putty. Before applying the putty, I use a small flat brush to apply a layer of vasaline to the resin for a mold release and then fill the frame with epoxysculpt (I no longer use milliputty). Once applied, the putty can be shaped and allowed to harden. When the putty has hardened, I remove the buck and do any final shaping and filling, from this I will build the buck up on a piece of clay and mold it to make a resin buck. As for the stripes on the wing, I took them off as they were not positioned properly, will put them back on eventually.

Looks like a way better deal than Milliput....I'll have to try some! Thanks for the info!

I should add that the reason I switched was I spent $15.00 on a pack of Milliputty a few months ago that was so dry it crumbled in my hands. Apoxys-sculpt is very popular with the guys that sculpt millitary figures.

Very nice build, Lance. Thanks for the tip, too, I'll put the putty in my Amazon stuff to buy later and pick some up when I need to buy some next.
