Don't do many WIPs these days as they are too time consuming, but I wanted to do this one. This is a really neat car and I'm kinda pumped from just finishing the Benetton B192. Along with the WIP, I'm going to work up a set of decals for this car, with the markings to do Michael Schumacher's first start in the 1991 Belgian GP (the kit decals do not have this provision. For paint I will use TS44 for the blue, TS22 for the light green and I bought a bottle of 7-up Green from MCW for the dark green. The white on the wings will also be painted. While the rear wing on the B192 went together really well, this kit may have the worst rear wing assembly of any Tamiya kit (I built this kit over 20 years ago, but sold it). I'm going to start by doing some of my least favorite parts first. At the top of that list is CF'ing the brake ducts, which in this case I did when I did the brake ducts on the B192. These have already been clear coated: Next is fixing the sink holes on the under tray. This is usually a real PITA, but in this kit, it is a delight - the under tray is almost completely flat and all the sink-holes are easy to get to and sand. There are two sink holes next to the diffuser exit, but they will be completely hidden once the rear bodywork is put in place so I'm not bothering with them. The under tray will be carbon-fibered.

Nice prep work on the 911... er 191. How do you do the CF on the brake ducts? Do you make a template or something else?

Oh good! I'm proud of you! You know WIP's are just something model builders have to do in life.
I agree on doing C/F first, its so boring - its best to get it out of the way first if possible. When ever I do C/F I just eye ball most of it and throw it on. But when it comes to the under tray I will make fast paper templates.
Hey Jordan I wished I had a F1 car named after me!

One of my favorite cars Michael. Originally I had also planned to do Schumacher’s car and then decided that I want the 911 test car in my collection, as some of you know I have a passion for test cars. Eddie Jordan had originally named his first F1 car the Jordan 911, but Porsche didn’t take kindly to that name so he rechristened it the 191. I have a preliminary set of templates from a fellow modeler, but since your release of the Tony Kanaan 2013 Indy 500 winner, a very complicated sheet, I thought that I would ask if you’ve ever thought about making templated carbon fiber decals? In this case, CF templated decals for the Jordan 911. Maybe there wouldn’t be enough interest per the work evolved, but I figure if I don’t ask the question, I won’t ever get an answer. Then again maybe my question would generate some interest. Paul Erlendson Attachments:

No need to do cf - lots of great CF out there. I can't come close to what's out there

Ah very nice! What did you use to gloss over your C/F? Just regular 'ol Testors clear lacquer?

I watched the BBC Broadcast of 1991 Belgiun GP last night in bed just because I have never seen it. Murry Walker and James Hunt thought very highly of the 'young' Schumacher....the prerace was mostly about Schumacher. Even during the driver intros when they should be giving attention and facts about the drivers they are showing on the screen they still were talking about Michael. LOL But unfortunately he went out a little ways after Eau Rouge.
This 191 is one of the more nicely shaped F1 cars of the early 90's if not the of the decade - right up there with the 1990 Leyton House IMO
Fast looking - Smooth - Sexy - pleasing to the eyes.

This car looks fast sitting still and looks like it would just suck to the ground through the turns. I can imagine what this design would have accomplished if it had McLaren/Ferrari type budgets and engineering.

Super clean building as always. Makes me want to break out my Hasegawa 192.

If Michael didn't fall out he could of very well won the race because Andrea De Crashsaris (Jordan teammate) was running in 2nd place before falling out with 3 laps to go.

Love the Jordan, did see a WIP of this on the Automotive forums once which was unbelievable. You aren't pushing it that far I think?

No, I know the build you are speaking of and it is INCREDIBLE! Using it for reference, but not even attempting to do what he did

Dontcha want to spend thousands of dollars on 3d parts, PE parts, turned aluminium parts, wires, and spend 3 years on it?

Long overdue update: Cockpit Prepping the body work Templating some carbon fiber Engine mostly finished I wasn't going to do any extra detailling, but I decided I needed to include the single Penske shock in the front of the tub, as seen here: www.gurneyflap.com/GURNEY2/Resources/SEPT243078.jpg. So I made a decal to use as a template to make cutouts as necessary I also cut out the fuel filler area and will do a manual insert as I felt that I could not smooth out the seam in the recessed areal. A rear shock from the Leyton House is the perfect size and similar in form to the Penske shock I really like this method of building the stuff I don't like first... so often I lose interest after I paint and decal a body. By doing the other stuff first, it motivates me to get on with the build so I can get to my favorite part body prep, painting and decaling. I just started priming the body with pretty much everything else already done.

This is turning very interesting! I like the idea for the Penske Shock! OMG! Jordan (aka Indy) is going to freak because not only is the car named after him but has a single Penske shock in the front.....plus Jordan(aka Indy) loves that extra OCD attention to detail. Good idea on doing the boring things first - I live for body paint and decals as well!

I remember having read back in 1992 or so, that Ferrari used them. I was equally surprised, even shocked.

US parts in F1? That is a bit surprising, Penske is a good brand though. After a little research, I see that no Jordan ever ran active suspensions!? Interesting little tid-bit for those of us that liked this era. What's not to like about this one Calvin? Cool car, nice tribute to the now injured future champion, great team name , cool scratch-building, and a great builder. Jordan

Looks fantastic Michael. I love doing CF decals BTW. It brings a car to life! Sink holes are another story though...

"Long overdue update" - Michael, I wish my overdue was similar to yours, you started only a couple of weeks ago, mine would be about 2 years after I started! As someone mentioned, your builds are so clean! I love looking at photos of your models, I have some of the same kits sitting around and hope to build, will use yours as a guide. Great looking car, I have it in diecast 1/18 scale and it is one of my favorites, beautiful shape! The CF really makes a big difference!

So, what kind of paint is the lime green? I know you are using MCW for the main green, but I'm not sure about this lime.....
I like the extra effort on the C/F detail! (which takes a lot for us that don't care about laying C/F)
