This car was prepared and cared for by the great Jack Beckley, a top notch, veteran Indycar and Indy winning Chief Mechanic. Despite that, this car did not finish one race in 1964 and killed Marshman in a post season test at Phoenix. I heard a story that Bobby actually tested the car in street clothes and received fatal burns as a result of his crash. I cannot verify this but the thought of him trapped in a burning car is certainly frightening.

Actually there were 2 different chassis used by Marshman, the one used in testing at Phoenix and crashed was a different chassis than the one used at Indy in 64. My understanding was Bobby had jeans and a t-shirt on. That came from a friend who's father owned PIR at that time.

wow! it's unbelievable to think after all that happened in '64 that he would run a test in street clothes. duane

I hate to say it but even as late as 1964 drivers were still wearing short sleeve shirts and cotton pants. Look at some of Dick Wallen's books. Fire suits really came into compliance after Herk's crash and this one. The early driving suits were not much; my SCCA approved suit in 1963 was made from cotton fabric and then soaked in a borax solution. We lost several good drivers from this era. I am glad it is safer now. Jim

And that borax itched worse than Nomex underwear does!! --Frank

No one will be forced to use Cady decals.

I would hope (Wish?) Indycals will do a proper 1964 Dunlop tire In Indianapolis specs. Michael already has a lot of the design in his 1/20 scale 1964-65 Dunlops. Paul Erlendson

No one will be forced to use Cady decals. But we can, if we want to, right?/s I'll send you a cease and desist letter in the mail, just like what ferrari would do. 😉 You can only use Indycals on this kit.
