this looks great Calvin, only problem is, I'd wanna make all 4 of em, this takes me right back to the 1989 indy 500, those cars were so awesome, question though; Eddie Cheevers car in 1990 for his first 500, its a PC-18 right? because thats the first year Chip had his own team, so technically this could also work for a 1990 cheever car, just a thought.

You are in luck, Eddie was actually in the PC18 so this really works for that one! There were multiple PC18s in the '90 500 I believe. Jordan

There will be 1990 decals forthcoming if there is sufficient interest in the 89.

Paul Erlendson I got your PC18 order, Thank you! But I have no idea what that error is all about? I've never seen that or has anyone else ever contact me about it. This free google site is nothing but a plug and play kind of a site....there is zero typing of code.

Just click the at to cart - its just like buying from Indycals sites.google.com/site/classicracingresins/customization/1989-penske-pc-18BTW I only have 2 kits left as of now..... I'm already working on getting a lot more put together - I had no idea 30 kits would sell in less than one day.

The only problem as I see it, Calvin, is you forgot to add the "Send Calvin to Indy in 2014" surcharge.

I should probably know this but, was the tub on this car aluminum or carbon fiber? When did carbon fiber start? Thanks

Thanks John You know thats actually a good question....I'm pretty sure the PC18 was all Carbon but I'm not 100% sure.....the thing about indycars is they used Aluminum on the tubs for so long and phased in C/F more and more every year in the 80's....

I think that 1989 was the last year of the lower half of the tub being mandated to be of honeycomb aluminum with the top half being carbon fiber. You can see the split on the excellent Tony Matthews cutaway drawing of the PC-18.

If my memory is correct, always suspect at my age, Porsche had the first carbon fiber tub in 1990. CART banned it right away. This caused Porsche to shut down their Indycar program. Then, mission accomplished, CART approved full carbon fiber tubs in 1991. Prior to this, the c/f parts were non structural used instead of aluminum or fiberglass. Take Care Craig

Pushing Porsche out was a big mistake in my mind. I remember being real disappointed when that happened. I was hoping Porsche would make enough of a go at it to maybe entice Ferarri to get involved as well. Oh what might have been.
