I thought I would pull out this kit that I started more than a year ago and TRY MY BEST to finish it up as a part of my recovery. Its a simple build (which is perfect for my current condition) and hopefully it will help me get back on track with model building. Also my hands dont shake as bad as they did!!!!!!! ;D Here is what I started with..... I'm building Dario's Houston winning car which was a wet race so I will be using wet tires! I had to cut out the radiator exits more since its a street course car. Then I filled in the open spots with styreme and black milliput (thats all I had was black ) Feel free to make any comments you want.....you know me, I like them! You guys remember dont you?

Can't wait until it gets some primer on it so we can see all your work! So, you filled in the back NACA duct on the bodywork? Interesting to see the fuel filler on the right side Jordan

So, you filled in the back NACA duct on the bodywork? As far as I can see the Houston car had it covered up.

Calvin's back! The machine! Great to see you are feeling better. I'm back but I'm still not feeling better. I'm just trying to DO SOMETHING. I'm tired of laying bed and watching TV! So I'm toughing it out and trying to build this kit. I call it "model physical therapy" If you dont use it, you loose it......so I'm trying to gain back my great motor skills that I had.

Good to hear from you Calvin. In the past you'd have this car done in about 5 days, so under the circumstances this time... I'm expecting a completed car after a full week.

Got some color on.... It took me a while to figure out what green to use. Turns out that an old can of Testors enamel "garbage" green was the closest I had.....This can of testors was so old it actually had cobwebs on it! As many of you know I'm not a Testors paint fan, but it was the only green that I had here at home that worked. Oh well, it looks OK.....I'm not too worried.

Just let it cure for a few weeks and it should be fine

Maybe if I put it in front of the heater it would cut that down to a weeks dry time? LOL. I have other cars that I've used Testors on and they still smell after a year!

I think the last time I used Testors on a car it took about a month to cure, but that was in sticky/humid Michigan.

Try a food dehydrator. Might want to check with the cook first. Great job on the radiator outlets! Those Reynards were great looking cars. MJ

Those sidepods look great! I wish I could sculpt like that, I just used sheet plastic to do mine Working on another set of open sidepods now - I think it is rough but no one else will probably notice. LOL Great to see you building - sorry it will be so long before it dries enough to work on it more Jordan

I think I'm going to move on to another model for a little bit....... because this stupid Testors paint isn't drying as fast as I want.

Testors enamel is the reason that the good lord made food dehydrators I used to set aside testors painted bodies for a week but the dehydrator does the job overnite. A $10 purchase from Odd Lots.

Its done! For being at such a disadvantage with my heath issues I'm pretty happy with this build. Yes it doesn't have much detail and more mistakes than what I normally did, its a good kit to get back in the groove as I recover. I would of added more detail, BUT my hands are still too shakey to even think about it.

Looks great Calvin. Love those KOOL cars especially the later ones with the two tone KOOL green and KOOL blue.
I am not a smoker but I still miss cigarette advertised cars like Players, KOOL, M@r1b0r0 and most of all VICEROY! LOL

Same way - never smoked due to what it did to my grandmothers but I still rooted for cig backed cars for a long time.
Great work Calvin - a good kit to pick when resharpening your skills. Hope you continue to get better healthwise.
