Hey folks....I've been thinking about doing a build in 1/43 scale for quite sometime. When last yrs ART work at Billet Proof,Chehalis Wa... was the subject for this yrs Billet Proof....I thought I'd do a Modified Race Team. Well...as most of us know ....I wasn't able to finish the Builds( Car...Trailer...Pull Truck) By the deadline. I haven't put it back in the box. I'm working on it as much as I can(like always). I do have a few pics of the started Chassis and body work. I got this kit from a show and it had been started( body painted brown). I decided to use the basic chassis(side rails only) from the kit as it had the curve I was looking for at the front of the chassis. I made an under slung frame at the rear section and took the rear end from the Monogram cobra kit and made an axle along with disc brakes. The tires and wheels are from a F1 Heller kit. I ground all the detail off and made the wheels deeper. They(front and rear) will have a different hub for both. The Motor(289/327) from the Cobra kit will be used for this build. The windows and wheel wells have been hogged out but...they need a little more attention. The body will be lowered at least 3-4 scale inches also.
Here are a few pics of the start.... Thanks for looking folks...

Very cool!
I don't think I could even work on a 1/43rd any more. The eyes and hands ain't what they once was.
Best of luck. MJ

Well...some time has gone buy and I've managed to get a few things done. A NEW DASH was fabbed as the old one didn't look good to me. All the gauges have been built along with the bezels. The old rear deck hinges were tossed and new ones made and installed. A handle was also fabbed and added to the trunk lid. A buck(pattern) was made from balsa wood and Milliput (two part molding putty that hardens over night) for the hood. It was then Vacuum formed. The Nose piece was also fabbed and it is ready for the whole to be cut for the screen. The back sheet metal was also fabbed and installed. Two brake master cylinders(front/rear) were also fabbed and the mount holes drilled into the firewall. Here are a few pics...Thank you for looking in folks... The NEW DASH...

The front nerf bars are made but are still in white. I'll try to get them and the rest of the chassis tomorrow... here's a few pics to show some progress...thanks for looking folks...

I'm glad it has inspired you.... Yea...sometimes I forget how small this thing is while working on it. It's very light....if it's not tied down in the chassis jig...it's hard to work on...it just moves away from me...LOL

This build would be super impressive in 1/24. In 1/43 it is just unbelieveable. As I have said before, the talent on this board is unreal. Take Care Craig

Wow, stuning work, especially in 1/43rd. I'd need a magnifying glass as big as a porthole to do this. Ian

Ian Thank you Ian, for the compliment...the porthole eyeglass is just about what I'm using to build this puppy!! LOL Actually I'm using the DOUBLE lens Binocular Magnifiers with a good set of Bifocals...let's see...that's about three sets of eyes on that car. The Camera sure lets me know when my measurements are off. That's the 4th set of eyes... that's A LOT of eyes...

Your very welcome your work does you credit. My camera has become a very useful tool for checking up on details and such, have to go back and fix all sorts of things I wouln't have noticed if not for the camera. Glad I'm not the only one who has to use it! Ian

Well...the engine is in and ALL the plumbing and primary wiring is finished. The secondary wires will be added tomorrow. Here are a few pics of the engine before and after. I put a Quarter next to it in one shot to get a feel of the scale of this little guy..... In the car....

Wow, Just WOW! Love it all, just so inspiring. Great work. Ian Thanks Ian...your comments keeps ME inspired... OK....here's an update. The body is in the two tone paint scheme..Purple/white. The Hood has been stripped because the second color didn't really cooperate and I really didn't like the way it looked..... too much purple. I will probably shoot the white on it (the hood) in the next few days. The headers are finished and in the pics are just mocked up for test fitting....the same for the side bars also. I will make the Decals for this puppy this weekend and this car should be finished real soon. Here are a few pics to see the progress...Thanks for looking in folks...

Gary: My only question is: Where did you find the tiny little nanobots to get such great detail? I mean, come on; it could pass for a 1/12th!
Seriously, a FANTASTIC job. Keep up the great work. It just keeps getting better and better... Tim

Hey Duane...it's is getting close to that Checker. Been building this puppy since the end of June last year. Wow....time has really passed by super fast...

Well...I did get the hood Re-painted yesterday. The Trunk lid had to under go a few changes also and it's complete. The windshield will be cut and mounted either today or tomorrow. The Decals have been started(last night) and will be finished today. Then it will be time to put everything together in their prospective order. Yes....It's down to the final few laps on this build....
