That would be something! I will keep an eye on this one. I know a guy that was doing a Lola F-5000 in 1/20th scale not too long ago. The same guy did several great Indy cars in 1/25th resin too. Just saying... Stu

LORDY! I have been thinking about this for SO-O-O long. O'all this is an excellent job! Critically, (I mean this ONLY in a positive way.)...the nose seems a bit short for a T333, the tub is excellent, the colored cockpit surround should be a bit flatter on the sides before the rad intakes, and the injection scoop might be a bit longer. Again, I think this is a wonderful job (I wish I did it!!!!!) and mean only to add my eyes and opinion to enhance your work. I am very excited to see what you have done!! I went to nearly all the F5000 races out here on the West Coast and still have many photos of the T330s and T332s that were raced by Hobbs, Lunger, Redman, Andretti et al. I'll scan the Andretti Viceroy car as it raced at Laguna photo for you. Patrick Wow! It looks GREAT!

Thanks for the positive comments. Patrick, your remarks are very welcome. I had thought that the nose needed extending also. I followed the curve of the Eagle windscreen and that may have led to a "fatness" in the area below it. If that is what is you are referring to, I agree it should be flatter. How much work/time I want to put into that area becomes the issue. About the airbox, do you mean it should be longer front to back, or bigger top to bottom? I value your observations. Thanks again to you all for your interest. BTW I saw Mario at WG 75 F5000. In practice he was unbeleiveable, but his notorious luck struck in the race. all the best Dan Parke

Those photos were great. The "new" CanAm was something wasn't it?

Sorry guys...if it's not a 2 seat CanAm it isn't a REAL CanAm car IMHO. It's only a converted F5000 car. ;D Yes, I was at the 1st Laguna CanAm back in '66 so I'm a simple purest . Patrick Oh, as to the scoop...I feel it is just a bit short nose to tail at the bottom only (the top is great). Oh, change the wing support to a thin tube assembly...more accurate. The height seems fine. Damn! It looks so good!!! On to the scanner!

I'd love to see a model of Redman's F5000 Borax car! And Patrick, I agree, the "real" Can Am was awesome! I used to watch them at Mid Ohio.

An early Scale Auto Enthusiast magazine, maybe in the first 20 issues, published some really good stuff on the Lola F5000 including drawings. Yell, if you want me to scan them and post them here. I also have lots of detail photos of restored cars in the Lola T300 range.

I'd be happy to run a pencil around the tub, if that would be of use. And I would love a scan and detailed photos. Of course, what I originally thought would be a minor rehab may become a major detailed rebuild instead. But that's the profession we've chosen. . . . BTW lookiong ahead, I have a reference that shows a red airbox though it was mostly raced with a white one with Viceroy shields for the numbers. I plan to do the red airbox version, since those shields are not on the Indycals sheet. Also not on the decal sheet are gold lines separating red and white areas on the body. Any ideas for the gold lines? TIA all the best Dan Parke

YES! I would like the scanned drawings. I am, however, sorry that I seemed to turn a minor rehab (re:fun) project into one of our "projects" that we seem to do to ourselves. I am constantly starting out on a "simple project" and turning it into...well, you understand! I know that this could make a great kit, but open wheel cars don't sell well, if it isn't a Porsche or Ferrari it doesn't sell well, if it isn't digitally electronic it..., well, you understand! My first was Elkhart Lake in 1967. Those amazing orange cars and the Chapparal are forever etched in my mind. After looking at the engine I bumped my head on the Chapparal's wing. I loved FA/5000 and was upset when it morphed into Can-Am2. Still went to the races though. And about the build - I am so impressed that someone would take on this project. What a massive conversion. I have a hard time just getting started on a box stock curbside. I'm watching this one for sure. Great job. Mark

What I see here is the power of this group. To say I am in awe at this rapid accumulation of wonderful reference is a huge understatement. These diagrams and photos I've mostly not seen before and are perfectly focussed on this project. Thank you flyingkiwi and thank everyone who participates. I am so glad I decided to join. Of course now there are even more details to devise . . . . ;D I am so motivated to working on and finishing this project.

Man, I'd forgotten how cool those cars really were. They sure make todays "Indy" cars look like, well you know what I mean. Makes me want to see kits even more. Great photos and drawings too!

I remember that Dr. Bertocchi had a cover article of his build of a Lago-Talbot GP car in Scale Auto. I really don't remember this Lola article, however. Thanks guys you're faster at the scanner than I am.
