This is another car with a major step finished with. This is von Trips Italian GP F2 car entry and Enzo's second rear engined car that raced at Monza. The factory is moving along with its projects a little bit at a time. The factory is busy.

For my amusement I'm keeping the maker info that is on the bottom of the toy. This one is simply "Ferrari no. 161 made in Hong Kong".

The body work on this one is piteously slow... sand and re-sand...sand and re-sand...but it will be a unique F2 Ferrari. Patrick

You're doing great work on this odd looking little machine. These early rear engine Ferrari experiments all look a bit stubby to me.

Is that a "Lucky" or a "Zee" car from Hong Kong? I'm compiling a list of both manufacturers to see what cars were made by them. I've got the Lucky #153 Ferrari sharknose and the Zee #2051 Ferrari sharknose. Do you have any other make of car by either manufacturer? How about anyone else?

Well...there are no company markings. Just Ferrari and number 161...made in Hong Kong.

Well, let's catch up... NEVER...that is never! Finish the outside of the model and then build the interior later. This has been a major pain to build in this back-assed manner. Slowly it is coming together. Patrick

Hi Patrick, great eye and hand on the shaping, beautiful build! Did you make it to the NNL this year? I was looking for your name on the cards. the only formula racers that I thought might be yours were two Merit kits and an awsome Brabham F2.
I'v been into my 1/8 V12s at the moment but really need to keep checking back.
Model On!!! John

Thanks for the comments...I've added exhaust pipes to the car... I used solder in an semi-appropriate diameter and epoxy'ed on some megaphone exhaust pipes... Next I tackled the gaping space in the rear...I made a "sorta like" trans/clutch unit to put back there... made from 3 pieces, I fit and epoxy'ed the unit to the suspension unit already in place... not very accurate, but you can't see much anyway... still more to do! Oh, yes, I did finish it for Chris Hale's SoCal NNL. There were so many problems to finish this car, but it is finished... I had P. Hill's 1960 Italian GP winner...the last front engined GP car win, and the Ferrari wave of the future, W. von Trips' 156/60 F2 car. I'll take a couple of more pix of the car. The interesting thing was the seat cover. I found a photo in a book showing the seat as the traditional blue seat cover, but with a black cover on top of that...interesting. Patrick

Patrick, what did you use for wire wheels on both your Ferraris? I'm trying to find replacements for the Auto-kit/Finecast 1/24 sharknose. Thanks.
Kent
PS and how is the Ferrari 158 Zee coming along?

Kent, I just got a 156 Ferrari Auto-Kit and I have already picked up a set of Herb Deeks Borrani Photo Etch wire wheels, they are the same diameter as the kit wheels, as a transkit all you have to do is cut the centers out of the kit wheel, I will probably machine the rims at that point , but then just clean them up and use the Deeks P/E wires in their place.. nice thing is kit tires fit although I am working getting some replacement tires also. I will announce that when I get them and make sure they will be accurate.. check ebay for Deeks wire wheels I think they are less than $20. a set.. Chris

Chris, thanks for your suggestion. I will be looking forward to your announcement for the replacement tires. For wheels, looks like Fujimi's 1/24 15" Borrani wire wheels will work. May have to cut down the width at the rear. The fronts may take a little more work since the real wheel has little depth before the wires. Those wire wheels on Patrick's Ferraris look like the Fujimi wire wheels I'm going to use. They may be a bit chromy.

Patric I really love this project!
After more a year and a half, let me give a little update to this thread about the wire wheels...
For all the V6 (Dino) Ferrari singleseaters, I recommend the Fernando Pinto wire wheels, that you can see in my SEF/Autokit 156 sharknose thread... you can find them on ebay...
They are all-resin made (tire, rim and hub), with hand-laced metal wire spokes... these are the scale wheels nearest to the original Ferrari Dino spokes' pattern, with the right difference between front and rear rims... moreover, the resin hub can easily be worked and adapted to almost all rods'/axles' diameter, that is very important in conversion projects...
They are quite expensive (I paid a set around 40 $ in Euros), and the rims aren't as realistic as the turned aluminium ones, but their fidelity to the original and their "workability" according to me worths the money...
Nice 2015 to all of you, guys!!

Beppe, my friend, you are correct about the accuracy of the wheels. I have to choose different ways to to complete the many projects I work on. When I first saw the Pinto rims (when first offered) I did order them (they are the ones I'm using on the W153) and paid around $100 for them. It was an investment for me as I'm a retired educator. I value what you have said, but it's not in my budget. No excuses for me...I do the best I can with what I have to work with. I do value what you have said and haven't taken any offense.(Maybe I can get them cheaper now. I haven't been looking.). My New Years wishes to you, too. I glad you're out there!! I wish I could get one of Pinto's Porsche F1. They look so great!
