After decaling the body I’ve been driving myself crazy trying to get the front suspension pieces just right. It’s not that it’s hard getting the pieces right. It’s hard getting it to stay together to measure things before gluing it all together. I need another hand or two. Sometimes I think octopi would make great modelers! I didn’t want to chrome the steering arms and sways bar until I had the correct fit and alignment. The same for the rear sway bar. Now that I’m pretty close, it's time to chrome. Much more work to be done. Jim

It’s been taking me some time to finish the suspension pieces and work on the cockpit detail and rear wing assembly. One of my stumbling blocks lately has been the rear wing support. I had tried to use something from the AMT or Revell kits, but I couldn’t find anything that looked close. So I had to make one from scratch and after many trials I think I captured the look. Now it’s off to priming, painting and chroming. The decal set for the kit did not provide the very small black Penske decals for the end plates of the front wings. So, I made them up with my laptop, printer and decal paper. Well, I think I'm nearing the finish line. However, I believe the hardest part is yet to come. That's getting the windscreen right. I have a couple of other things to do first. Jim

Yes, moving along at a snail's pace! While I chromed all the front suspension pieces, even the steering arms and sway bars (not shown), I forgot to chrome the rear anti-roll bars (background of picture). I also have the fuel filler buckeye, dash, steering wheel, mirrors, wind screen, screen cover for the intake, and pop-off valve to complete. Big shopping list yet! Then I get to put it all together! When I last left you back in March I was about 90% done with the PC-23. That was all to change in an instant. For the second time I had a major accident! I don't know what's wrong with me. I've never had this much of a problem building a model. I guess I'm just getting old and careless. There was a rag on my work bench and as I turned away in my chair the rag caught on to my belt area and also onto the car pulling it onto the floor. Probably couldn't do it again if I tried. This really has taught me a lesson. First to build the kit completely, then offer the WIP! So, I've been working feverishly rebuilding the car. I actually broke off the rear part of the car along with all of the suspension and wings. Many of the suspension pieces broke so I had to cannibalize a second Revell Reynard. Some of the suspension pins also stuck in the holes, so, I had to drill them out. Of course the Flo orange is a bugger to paint, especially trying to patch the area. So, I had to strip the car completely to repair what was broken. I've been working steady on the car ever since. However, I've had a few stopages along the way. I have two daughters that are getting married, one this month and one next month. So we've been helping them and having wedding showers. We also did another mission trip to Haiti last month, which was just awesome and glad we could do it again! Today I've finally reached the the finish line and here she is, Glad I was finally able to share with you. Here are the 1994 500 winners. Jim

They look great - I can't say I've seen a mid-90's Lola built up in 1/25 before - very nice, both of them!!

Im glad to see you finish it! Looks nice! I hope this model isn't some kind of voodoo doll/car because....... Look! Why would someone run a speedway car on a road course? Could never figure that one out..... As for the model, I guess "three times the charm?" Jim

What a stunning build!!! Fantastic
As for running the speedway car on the road course - it would be wrong to put rc wings on that car - it never ran on a rc.

Beautiful!! I love the M@r1b0r0 cars (maybe not as much as Jordan ) Your perseverence has been rewarded! Nice work! We've all had builds that challenged us. Just ask Russ about that Old Calhoun that he built a couple of years ago.
