POST #4I didn't get as far as I was hopping last weekend (really busy ) I haven't been really keeping up with the WIP too good....sorry But I'll try to pick it up. Im still doing test fits, here and there....I have most of the engine area figured out, I used aluminum tubbing to do the intake. I used a PC6 exhaust collector. I used sheets of brass for the wing end plates, plus I also cut the wing at the seam. I still need to add the 2 wing supports in the middle. I used the AMT eagle wing braces. Next I'll show how well the tires came out with the indycals tire decals and the info on how to prep the "split" PC6 rear tires. But after I get my shipment of white Primer I'll start doing more body work.

Calvin It looks great so far. Did the tube from the turbo to the injectors come with the kit or did you fabricate it? I have the kit but don't have that part. Thanks

Not bad and way before your time ;D Heck by the time Calvin was born Foyt had his 4 Indy wins, Al Sr had 4, and Mears already had 2 Indy 500 wins.

I'd feel better if you struggled just a little bit with this. Just kidding. I really enjoy your work, and this WIP is invaluable to me. Thanks again for taking the time to share.

Thanks Calvin. You've really taken away some my apprehension about building this kit. With your WIP and the material I got from Russ I'm looking forward to building it now.

Gosh darn it guys Im not 100% done but I just have to show you! ;D Im still waiting for the hose clamps.....I need to fix a few minor things but its pretty much there.... I'd have to say this is my best resin build thus far...... I put hrs an hrs into this winner. I made mistakes, I overcame the mistakes I battled with the paint, I overcame the paint On this particular build I had a wave of emotions. There are a few mistakes that some of the experts might see but what can I say? ;D Now this is kinda funny....here is my jig for holding the windscreen in place 'tel it dried. ;D After Im totally done, Im going try to take some better pics.....These pics dosen't give this model Justice. ...It looks way better in person! More later.....

Calvin,
Like all modelers, you are way, way, WAY to critical of your own work. You did this kit, (Remember, I have built this sucker! It's not as easy as you made it look!) PROUD! It looks great! Better than that, it looks like the real car which is not easy. With that said, I'm sure we can look at all of our completed builds and find something wrong with each one. Now we have to get you to build a Watson Roadster and show us how that's done correctly. This is a great build and thanks for sharing it with all of us and inspiring other to build this kit. Nice work, my friend!!!
Best to you!
Russ

Another outstanding job Calvin! I'm glad to see it finished before I leave. I'm still amazed at how fast you pop these things out. From your first post till now, just under two weeks! Amazing! It would take me a couple of months, just to get near to that quality.
One question, may I ask what you used for the screen across the front of the car?

AWESOME Calvin!! You got that Poppy Red absolutely perfect. I'm a big fan of you and your builds. I thought that you outdid yourself with that Bobby Unser car but this is a new high mark. Well done.

and very brave of you to use Testor's enamel! Yeah, what was I thinking? LOL Actually what I was thinking was "Im desperate!"....I didn't feel like adding too much drama to this thread but I'll go ahead tell what problems I ran into during painting I started out using a Tamiya Mixture of Orange, clear red, and Clear Orange....my test strip came out fantastic! but when it came time to paint the car things didn't work out like plan and my Tamiya custom paint job looked like Coyote S***! So like I said being desperate/Mad/Angry/Stupit I grabbed a can of that scary Testors paint and went at it The reason I took the gamble is from past experience I've actually have laid Testors over Tamiya with good results. I dont see any long term consequence? Laying enamel over Lacquer?

It looks fantastic, Calvin. You continue to amaze me. For anyone who is planning a Coyote, Poppy Red is a 65 Mustang color and is available from any Mustang parts supplier ( National Parts Depot, The Paddock, etc). Take Care Craig
