jesl21: Rattle cans? And it came out like this? How about I send you several cars that need fade paint? Really well done! I can’t wait to see this one finished! Tim

The fine mist of the Tamiya cans sure help- they really make nice stuff. I had been kicking around the idea in my head and I thought it would work, but the end result exceeded my expectations.

Wow...that fade is amazing. Thanks Michael. I masked things off again today to get the roll hoop and the halo supports. I'll post more pictures in a few days. Excited to see what you have in store for these kits! It's so great having a modern Indycar, especially in the proper open wheel scale.

Really nice work on the paint and blends. Looks super sharp and I bet it does pop when outside. I am going to stick with the decals for the first shot. If I have trouble, I will work on the paint method.
just as an aside (and you might already be planning this) hit the pointy tabs with solid yellow so when they go into the side of the car they blend better with the tub. I cut mine off, used tiny magnets to hold the side pods on and then filled the hole with putty.

My photos are just a mockup, so nothing is clicked into place yet. Do you have any photos of your magnet solution? I love the sound of that. Also curious what size magnets your bought.

Starting to do some assembly on the tub. I was very tempted to get a can of the Revell chrome spray, but the Rustoleum price is a little easier to swallow and the result is good enough for me. I don't build these for model shows or anything. I messed up the tire decals last night which bums me out. I typically put the tires on the rim and then do the tire decals. After watching Clay Kemp's video, I decaled first and then put the tires on the rim. Definitely didn't work for me. I'm going to try to make some 1/18 decals from Michael work. Live and learn I guess!

Well I broke down and bought a Larson kit. Very impressed by the carbon fiber decal sheet as well as the rest of the kit. I love watching the WIP. Nothing better than learning from someone else on a new kit. Thanks for sharing. Duane

Biggest suggestion I have is to take your time and test fit everything. The tolerances are generally pretty good, but some items are very close and require just a bit of trimming for the best fit. And definitely take their suggestion and assemble each side of the exhaust and turbo one at a time and only cut the parts off as you are putting it together because the snake-like parts can be confusing.

Doing some more assembly. I added some model factory hiro heat shield at the back of the tub. The texture on it looks fantastic in my opinion. I used some of this around the turbos as well. I had some issues with the silver intakes on the sides of the car. The right side had little bumps that didn't work well as locating pins. I ended up sanding the nubs off . I then drilled two holes with a manual hobby drill and super glued some cut pieces of a paperclip to create a useable locating pin. No photos of this, but it worked well. On the left side, the part had nice locating pins, but it was creating some issues with allowing the engine to seat squarely against the tub. I think this was just user error on my part. Ended up attaching the engine to the chassis and then installing the left side intake with the same pin method as I did on the right. Now the engine is squarely attached. Next up will be the front suspension and uprights. I think I'll do the halo, aero screen and dummy tv camera pod last.

Definitely agree with all of this. I'd be careful of not swapping the right and left suspension arms as well.

Pretty much all finished with the Newgarden kit. I masked off the aeroscreen and painted the blend on the bottom edge of that. Don't mind the engine cover gap, it's just sitting loosely on top of the airbox. I just need to fix my tire decals and then I'll get some outdoor shots. I sound like a broken record, but I'm very thankful that Salvinos spent the time and money to bring these kits to market. They did a wonderful job. I hope business has been strong for them. Now I'm exciting to do a Scotty Mac and Pato one! Hopefully with road course wings.

Thanks guys! I'll finish up the tires this weekend. Really excited to see more of these built.
Is anybody working on a road course wing kit?

Is anybody working on a road course wing kit? I do not believe that the road course wing kit is out yet. One positive is of the original four kits, only the McLaughlin kit is not sold out yet. Jordan

Jordan I wasn't sure if anybody was working on a 3D printed after market wing set. Glad to see the kits are selling well. I wonder if Salvinos plans on a second run of any of the original batch. I may want to start grabbing these up.
