Taking a look on the Internet it is said that this is a 1968 Gerhardt chassis modified for entry in the 1972 Indy 500.

That is the Number 99 Joe Hunt entry. Not sure about the Dick Simon car.

The 44 car was apparently known as a Peat-Lola, driven by Dick Simon. This was taken at Trenton that year and the nose looks a bit different. This is a link to what I found on this.
