the photo is from1972, It the Joe Hunt Magneto Spl. driven by Bob Harkey. It didn't Qualify for the Race. In 1971 Harkey started 32nd. and finished 22nd. The car had a different nose and no rear wing in 71 Tha car started life in 1969 and was built By Gerhardt and driven by Mel Kenyon to a 4th place finish.

What a time era in Indy car. I wish it could go back to the garage door mechanics but material, safety and big dollars it will never be that way again. If you were lucky to live and witness threw this era you were very lucky and had great memories in the month of May down at the track.

So if this is from 1972, they did a pretty quick "borrow" of the nose design from the 1971 "lobster-claw" F-1 Brabham. Rex
