I have been having good luck selling the Shadow F1 kit since its release about a week ago. Just wondering if there is any interest in possibly doing another Grand Prix car? I realize there are a lot of 1/20th kits available from various European manufacturers. I think that they produce a great kit. A lot of these kits are in the $200.00+ range and I am sure they are worth every penny but unfortunately I am not able to do that financially. If there is interest in certain cars, I would consider it in the future. I think that there is only going to be so many Indy cars that I willing to do down the road. Let me know what you guys think. Thanks Kevin

1/20... 1/24... 1/25... I don't care as long as the subject is interesting.
EDIT: I was not aware the A2 had been done. Scratch that...

That Shadow is absolutely stunning. Both of them.
First time I ever thought about doing an F5000 car.
That you can have a matching pair kinda goes along the lines of what I was thinking in my question last year. I got my years mixed up and starting looking for a 24th Shadow DN4 Can Am to really think about completing the set!
I have always come back to look at the PC4 on offer. And if it something I could work on to do the late season winner or even the Ongais car from 77 (?) I did wonder if now the back end of the Shadow is something that could bolt on to that PC4. But that is an side.
I read about the Eagles. 66 Indy and Milestone F1 67 Spa winner. Think I got that right. Think the F1 will fly off your shelves.
And I think the trick is to keep it themed to US racing teams or drivers in some way. To compliment what there is in 25th already.
Andretti's F1 Parnellis (to go with the available Eagle/offys from 74 and 75 and his F5000 cars) is all I can think of right now. US Team. US driver.
Personally I would be more than happy with all of his JPS Lotus cars from 77 to 79 at 25th as I tend to keep my 20th collection to a specific driver based theme.
Something no one else has done might do the trick, like the illustrated Arrow A2. But whilst a very interesting subject I do wonder if it might be a bit too niche. Lovely thought though.
Going to be sneaky and throw this out there in this thread. Why no Lola indycars from 84 to 86? Not enough scope? Something about those cars means they were never produced as kits. Maybe it is a case of looking at a list and being brutally honest about what will not work and seeing what is left.
Just wanna take the last line to express my continuing admiration of the work.

I think you would have a bigger market if you did the F1 cars in 1/24 scale. I think their would be strong demand for kits of 50s, 60s, and 70s F1 car models.

The very first 1974 Andretti Parnelli Grand Prix would suit me fine. Can’t have enough Andretti-mobiles, say I. Dan

The Arrows A2 has been done by STUDIO 27 in 1/20 ( I had one for awhile but parted with it reluctantly) and I think WAVE did one in 1/24, would love to get another. Ligier JS 9 would also be nice.

How about the 1966 Brabham? Only car built by the driver to win F1 title. Never kitted in 1/25th, 1/20th or 1/12th to my knowledge.

My understanding of those modelers who build F1 cars exclusively or almost exclusively, is that that they want them in 1/20 scale. It has become the defacto scale for F1 cars. They also build in 1/43 & 1/12, but always were upset by 1/24 offerings. At least that's the way it was when I hung out on the F1M & GPMA boards. Mike

To go a bit further on what Mike said, if they are true F1 modelers, it has to be 1/20th. There just is too much out there for someone to even want to start doing 1/24th. On the other hand, if you have someone that is by chance primarily into sports cars, nascar, indy, etc as their vice, then you might get some nibbles in 1/24th. The key to that latter one though would be subjects that appeal to them that are a) not already in 1/20th and b) has a tie to the other forms of racing. A good example would be like the aforementioned Mark Donohue. The McLaren M19 would be nice in 1/24th. I am sure some of Mario Andretti's stuff would sell well. However, you can't be finished with Indy until you finish the Donohue, Andretti, and Foyt lines though.

I prefer 1/24 due to the vast amount of interchangeable parts with Indy, Le Mans, Can-Am and dare I say NASCAR kits. I prefer the '60s that's when my Heroes raced exciting cars, no ground effects or wings (but I do love Jim Hall. As with Indy the '60s were the ultimate era of change, so I'd like to see 3-Litre Ferrari's, BRMs, Lotus, Brabham's et al.

I think any of the early F1 cars would sell well.... Cooper, BRM, Vanwall, etc.

This is a fascinating thread and discussion of F1 cars and scales. Years ago I found a 1/24 scale Heller kit of Brabham BT 33 that I changed into Sir Jack's 1969 #95 Indy car. I had to scratch build the rear wing and tail but it was fun to do a one off and add a car to my collection that was unusual. Jim

Personally I prefer 1/24. My interest is for race cars generally and I want my sports racers not to look awkward beside the formula cars. In scale 1/24 I have Heller (Union), Gunze, Wave, Hasegawa, RoG, all the Merit kits, both formula and sportscars, 2 Ferrari F1 (312B and 312B2) by MG Model. Nearly all these are older production kits I could only buy through evilbay. Half a year ago I found even the 1/24 Arrows A2 made in resin by A-ONE kits of Japan. And there are some of Fernando Pinto´s creations, e.g. Mercedes GP of 1914 or Bugatti T251. I know 1/25 is the established scale for Indycars but not for F1 beside the specialist 1/20 scale. Greetings and best wishes from Vienna, Austria, Europe, Martin

I prefer 1/24-1/25 kits, but most F1kits are in 1/20 scale, so that’s what I mostly build when it comes to F1, but l’d love to see more in my preferred scale.
If you made any BRM that Graham Hill or Jackie Stewart drove, I would buy at least one, especially if it was a P261.

Let the 1/20 community bash what they want, but I am a sucker for 1/24 AND 1/25. So whatever you decide to release, you will be applauded!!

Chaps.
I know this is an old thread but I do not know if anyone mentioned it.
Not an F1 car per say, but from a predominantly F1 team. Fits with the Ferrari Indycar that I think sold well..
Anyone ever though of or done the Lotus 96 at 1/25th scale?

How about continuing the Shadow theme for their line of F1 cars? Most have been done in 1/43, but are primarily discontinued. DN8 in particular, which was the car Tom Pryce was driving when killed in South Africa, and later earned a win in the hands of future Champion Alan Jones. The early DN1 (both in Uop and Embassy Hill livery) and DN3 were beautiful cars, although the latter also has a tragic history (Peter Revson).
Throw in the Can Am Shadows not done yet (Mk II, Mk III, and the DN4 Can Am Champ), and you would have a unique range.
You already have outstanding options for Shadow fans to have multiple Shadows from all series, in a common scale - would love to see additional options!
