I ordered 19 parts from Shapeways last night. Some parts have a taper, so I tried redesigning a few of them. Ultimately, redrawing parts was a headache that was going to require extra post-printing sanding to get back to the orginal shape, so I chose "Print It Anyway" where the parts do not have to be redesigned. It will be interesting to see if the tapers turn out like Sadler21's aero kit winglets from Stu's Rahal build with the wispy edges.
Most parts were custom that did from scratch in Sketchup. Thanks again to Michael Portaro for telling me about Sketchup here on the forum. In the order were two similar variations of a modern NASCAR part (1/24), 7 diorama parts (1/24), some Reynard parts (1/25), an alignment tool (1/25), and parts I got from Michael Peters that have never been printed before in 1/25 (two mirror sets plus a camera).
Pictures to come when the box arrives in 2-3 weeks.

Selfie Sunday! I used get up there all the time - I barely could today but first time in 4 years! LOL Looks like you can get a pretty good view from up there, Calvin. Here in the Midwest we use something called a Ladder. I guess that technology has not made it to you yet.

What material did you order?
usually if there is a problem with thin edges you should get a 'thin wall' warning and you can automatically fix it without re-uploading a new file.

Well I'm guessing ladders are very popular in the midwest? As thats one of the few elevation changes you can experience from what I hear....

FXD, I really wanted to see it myself on some high detail parts, plus the finish seems vastly superior to FUD. Their thin wall fixes were good on some parts but not on others. Jordan

I think all the pieces turned out pretty good which had been a concern because when I chose "print it anyway", they will not reprint defective pieces. The tiny details are really well done as you can see them upon closer inspection. Hard to see details in bare plastic and phone pictures but they show when you get the light just right. Parts need to be washed, etc as this is fresh out of the box. FXD is a really good material, I think the tolerances can be tightened up and that will be exciting! Jordan

Those mirrors are a thing of beauty! Looks like a 1997-ish rim as well? The mirrors came from Mike Peters. I did have to fix the models so they would print then scaled them to 1/18 for him to print then resized to 1/25 for this print job. The rim I did about a year ago. mb2501.proboards.com/thread/6459/lazier-indy-winner-helpThey are Bart rims. They were not great rims and their biggest claim to fame is being on Buddy Lazier's Indy winner for the pictures next day (I do not believe they raced them). Not cheap to print but I wanted something else to put in the printjob and had nothing else to try out. ....so I talked myself into printing it. Jordan

It sure was a lot easier to take these shots last night between 6 and 10 than last year between 1am and 5!!!
Plus I'm learning the basics of photoshop a little more.....I still barely know how to do things.

I'm sure Dad and I will get made fun of for this story but it really is true! We can't stop thinking about it. When we were traveling to Lake Chelan yesterday we started to travel in this strange little grand canon part (as seen in the pics) as we proceed through the canyon there was a 07ish white Cadilac SUV that drove by, then 1/4 of a mile later another 07ish white Cadilac SUV drove by, then another 1/4 of a mile a third EXACT! 07ish white Cadilac SUV drove by!!! Dad and I looked at each other and said, should we be doing something here?....and right after we said that to each other we looked up and guess what! a FORTH white Cadilac SUV drove by....BUT the fourth one was a little older!......but it was still a white Cadilac!......Those were the only cars we saw going through that canyon!!!!!......So, do we have reason to be a little weided out by this? On the map below I marked where we saw each of the white Cadillacs!

Well, that's more than a little strange, Calvin. That's when I would check my cellphone for signal, and pull Mr. Colt out from under the seat. Just a weird deal, I'm sure, but It would get my attention.

That's when I would check my cellphone for signal, I'm glad you mention cell phone....there was no reception out there......I was watching my GPS as we came up on this canyon and about 20 miles out my 4g went to 3g then it went 1x (Which I've never seen that before) then it was gone by the time we went into the canyon.....
