It looks great! Tell me more about scanning and adjusting color on decals and the green paint you used.
Thanks.

Paint is easy. It's MCW Quaker State #2155, available at www.mcwautomotivefinishes.com/paint/catalog.htmlAs for decaling, the main adjustment I made is on the side of the rear wing. The Q and 8 in the kit decals are clearly designed for use only on the road setup. I wanted the Speedway version, so I scanned the decals and used photoshop to reduce them and clear them up as best I could with my limited skills. I printed them on Testors decal paper. Obviously when you look at these photos, they are very pixelly and crappy. (I'm a writer at a marketing firm - not a graphic artist! ) Also if you look at the Q on the ramps in front of the rear tires, you'll see they are different shades of green because they came from different decal sheets. One of mine shattered on contact with water, so there you go. And as is the case with all of these where kit decals are used, there are no tech decals such as would be used at the 500. It seems I could use a sheet just filled of those from various years. I probably wouldn't redo this car now if new decals became available, but I would highly recommend anyone thinking about doing one to wait if Michasel is in fact considering a sheet. You'll save plenty of frustration by using his instead of the kit decals.

Hi John (groundeffect06), I finished my build of the Quaker State car (see my post above from July 17) and am going to try posting some photos of it here. The green colour I used is much darker than the MCW paint used by macsparty on his very nice build. I didn't know about this MCW colour but they do not ship their paints internationally anyway as far as I know (I live in New Zealand). I don't know just how far off the colour I chose is, but it does reasonably match the decals and the green colour in the first of the photo hotlinks posted by harveythedog on July 8. Unfortunately, I am even less happy with my build having now seen macsparty's photos. I have made mistakes with wheel camber, rear wing top decal location and possibly the colour of quite a few details. Kenh

Hello Everyone, Here are a few pictures of my Quaker State March 88C build. This is my first Indy Car build so things are progressing slowly. Have'nt done any model building at all in about 15 years. Then I was an aircraft modeler. Work keeps me on the road 5-6 days a week so I work on it when I can. I will try to post more photos as the build progresses. Does anyone know who distributes Evercoat polyester glazing putty or where I can buy it? groundeffect06 I found mine at one of the auto supply stores (Triangle) here in our little town, NAPA's house brand is exactly the same thing, and cheaper. Mongo
