Ok, I'll be transporting a bunch of cadets to Hawk Mt., PA Thursday. We plan on spending Thursday night in Indy and touring the Speedway Museum Friday morning. Any request, tips,etc.

Ask if you can go to the basement, more cars there than on the main floor.

Yea, the basement is Indycar nirvana. Just be aware, if they do let you in the basement, photos are NOT allowed. Try to take one and you will find your trip rather short.

Tell us more about the basement! What is down there? Why no photos? Who do we contact to get down there?

The basement has many additional cars that are rotated in and out of the main museum. All the original pace cars (500 & 400)and many of Tony Hulman's personal collection. Also the Jaguar xk 120 that Clark Gable used whenever he was in town (6,000 miles on it) A Gullwing Mercedes,a few sprint cars and midgets and other memorabillia.
generally you can't get there unless you have business to be there. I have been lucky having been there several times.
