I hate to see that. Milwaukee is a great place to watch a race. It would be a blow to lose a track that has been running for more than 100 years. So much history.

Didn't know that Milwaukee was in such bad shape. Letting this place go belly up would be just as bad as if some misfortune came upon IMS. You figure after 106 years all the guys who raced at this place, all the guys who have been killed racing at this place, it kind of makes Milwaukee hallowed ground. Hopefully these people can set their ego's aside and do a deal.

Someone spent a BUNCH of money upgrading the facility and there is considerable debt associated with that. I don't know all the gory details but the current owners inherited lots of that debt and are struggling. I always enjoyed going there for the second race, which was during the state fair. In the early 80's, the state fair board decided that whether the participants had a credential or not, they were going to try and make everyone buy a fair ticket every day. After a near riot ensued at the credential gate, they decided not to.
