I’m looking for a Monogram Indy roadster. Either unbuilt or glue bomb. I’m also looking for the American Racing Miniature photo etch set for the kit.

Thanks to all who responded! I really appreciate it. There truly are some wonderful people here. Now I have to start learning more about Rodger Ward’s 1956 Filter Queen Special!

Paul, "alwaysindy's" post today about the Robbie Gordon blue Menards car included a reference to the modelingmadness.com website. I checked it out and if you click on Reviews, you will find a post for various builds that have been shared over time. There are two about the Monogram roadsters; one done as the 1955 winner and the other as the 1956 Filter Queen Special. It might help your research a little. Good luck. Jim

Thanks Jim! With the help of Tom and Calvin I’ve been able to acquire all the ARM parts plus the kit. In an interesting turn that I’ll explain someday in a W.I.P., I’ve decided to build Freddie Agabashian’s 1955 Federal Engineering Special.

Paul, Any of the Kurtis cars of this era are fun. I remember as a fan (kid - 14 years old) at Qualifications that you could always tell when Federal Engineering was getting ready to make an attempt. Yes, only three were allowed in those days. They would install the Moon discs (spun aluminum discs popular on hot rods) on the wheels. They said it made the car faster since it cut down wind resistance. I don't know if that were true or if it just was a psychological trick to get the driver in the right frame of mind to stand a little harder on the gas. I am eager to see your yellow and blue baby. Paul, If you have not already seen this, go to the below web page and save all the pics to your computer (make sure you get the large resolution versions), while they are still available. You'll want them! hymanltd.com/vehicles/5912-1955-kurtis-kk-500c-indy-roadster/I recently bought Calvin's upgrade set for this kit, but I'm planning on building the 1955 winner with mine. Need to get off my butt and order the Indycals sheet from Michael... Cameron

Thanks Cameron, Those photos are one of the main reasons I shifted to the Federal Engineering Special.

Paul, I have started but not finished a sister of this car, the KK500E that Bob Veith drove in 1956. I think some of the information in "Hyman" article identifying the 1955 Federal Engineering Special as a KK500C is not correct. Gordon White's book on the Kurtis 500 cars says it is a KK500D. It may not matter but somewhere I recall that the torsion bar locations may be different. Jim
